I am going to be getting an unlocked blackberry classic to compliment my passport shortly and would like to know if anyone is using an unlocked passport on at&t and if there are any issues.

    - 4g lte support or hspa+?
-any settings that have to be manually entered(apn?)
    - any real difference between the at&t version and the unlocked other than wireless charging on att model?

    Thanks for the insight!

And in case you're wondering, AT&T should provide you an unlock code if you ask for one, just tell them you're going out of the country, as long as you buy it outright I think they have to give it to you.

My wife has an unlocked -4 version Classic purchased from Amazon - we are on AT&T - LTD works fine - no APN settings were required - all I had to do was get a new nano SIM at the local AT&T store, install it, and good to go.

And FWIW - I DID NOT let the AT&T rep install the SIM - I did it myself so they wouldn't screw up the phone!

Just got a used classic from Amazon unlocked and just pay my sim from my Passport in it and all is working finer. Didn't have to change anything.

Buying outright from AT&T is more expensive than buying an unlocked model, plus, I don't have to bicker with AT&T about unlocking it.

The extra cost to buy from AT&T isn't worth just the wireless charging. I would be using this for a travel phone, so I won't be hauling a charging pad with me.

I left Verizon and bought an unlocked Classic and fired it up on ATT. I've had no issues whatsoever. Pop in your new nano sim and you're good to go. Go for it.

Yep, I had the unlocked done before, also on AT&T, and it worked fine.

ditto except I did let an att rep install the sim.

fwiw: agree, direct purchase from att may be more expensive but no bickering/negotiating for the unlock code. that was the case with my z10.

Just an update, I just got my unlocked classic and have had no issues with service. It popped right onto LTE with AT&T and has stayed there. Battery life isn't half bad either, and I'm sure it will get better as I use the device

PS, battery life will get better, give it a couple days to settle in!

Now the largest dilemma is figuring out when to use the passport and when to use the classic lol
