I am with Bell as my mobile service provider. I bought the Q10 about a year ago and it is hooked up to my data plan.

I was hoping that I can continue using my old blackberry (Blackberry Bold 9700), through wifi for email and browsing.

Browsing is not problem, but when i try to set up an email account on the 9700, it does not allow me to.

Is there any way for me to set up my old blackberry so that i can get greater use of it through a wifi connection. It is not connected to my data plan, as my Q10 is, but I wanted to use the old one via wifi for email.

    Please advise.

    Thank-you

Unfortunately, you cannot use a BlackBerry Legacy Device (such as the 9700) without a BIS plan; which is tied to your SIM card.

In other words, the Wi-Fi connection will not suffice for anything but browsing the Internet on your 9700.

Thanks for the info . As my email accounts are with independent email providers (not with blackberry), I was hoping that there is some email program out there that would allow me to receive my emails through wi-fi. Given what you said, I guess this is not possible?

I suggest that you get "Mobile Internet" plan. You pay $5 for 10MB, $100 for 100MB etc. This is a Rogers plan but Bell has a similar one, although slightly more expensive. I am assuming (may be wrong) that you are in Canada. I also have two Blackberries Bold 9900 - one is on the "Mobile Internet" plan. Search for "Mobile Internet Flex" plan.
