Before release, this was a big complaint. Now that it has been out for a while, does anyone care?

No its not an issue for me. But it would be cool if they make a classic 2 with a bigger trackpad and it light up because it does look cool at night on the 9900/9930

I'd prefer if the trackpad did light up, but it's not a deal breaker. In the dark you can usually catch a shimmer off the silver edge that outlines the track pad, but it almost becomes instinct as to where it's located so no spotlighting needed. Visually and nostalgically I DO miss it though. I'm not complaining that it isn't illuminated, but I would most certainly geek out over a launch of a Classic refresh hosting a glowing trackpad for sure! It just looks sexier...

It's pretty easy to find where it is so the lack of a 'light' feature is not an issue. As with most aesthetic choices, I am always in favor of battery conservation over anything else. I'd almost entertain the option of being able to turn off the keypad lighting altogether.

I would like the trackpad to have been slightly larger as it does feel a bit on the small side. It seems that the Classic is the largest device with a toolbelt, however the trackpad is the smallest of any past devices with one.

No issues. Maybe no light up TP means longer battery.

It is not a deal breaker. However, it did add a touch off class watching the ring of light dim on my 9930.

I don't own a Classic but this was one of my favorite features of my legacy devices. It's sad they missed out on this with the Classic.

From what I recall it was only on the 9900, not legacy devices per se.

That said, it definitely gave the 9900 a real nice cool look at night and though not needed for function, it would've made the Classic more premium to have a trackpad that lit up.

Also, I'm a real fan of the shiny steel on the 9900 and OG Passport instead of the matte grey on the Classic and SE PP.

Can't see it through my thumb so not a deal breaker. Muscle memory knows where it's at. Still, given a choice, i'd pay a few extra $$ for 9900 style "location guide" lighting. Also, even tho long time BlackBerry users know where to find the TP, it could be argued that improving learning curve slope by making the TP easier to notice for newbies might ultimately improve sales. Lighted "show casing" can be a valid sales strategy.

The size of the track pad is perfect. I rather have a small TP and more screen space. Every mm counts.

Don't miss the lighting. But it was cool on the 99.

    Yes to the stainless frame.

Maybe the next Classic will be like Ziro1's rendering with PP specs.

While it would be aesthetically pleasing to me to have the trackpad light up, the way it is now on the Classic is fine to me.

Never even noticed. HOWEVER, I can't seem to get the keypad to light up in dim light - at my age / eye condition, this IS a hassle.
I can't touch-type, even after many years on BBs - so, if anyone has a BRIGHT idea (get it?), I'm all ears.

True. The light itself never had a real purpose on my 9900, still it was nice to look at.

The question should not be if we care, the question should be would you rather had a trackpad that lights up.
If BB released 2 identical Classic's: one with lighted trackpad and the other one not, then I think everybody who now says they don't care would choose the first model, if given the choice. I don't think anybody would choose the non-lighted version if a lighted trackpad version would also be for sale. So those people who now say they don't care, do care.
