    Hey all,

Thinking of ditching Android and going for a classic. Mainly due to privacy concerns. I just hate Google as a company.

I'm a complete loner so I have no need for any social apps like whatsapp/skype etc, the only thing I use on my Android is a reddit app "Red Reader" and a 4chan app "Clover"

I've tried using the above apps in the blackberry simulator in VMware and they work a treat but I cannot get .webm files or .gifs to play correctly, the app just crashes
I know bbos has it's own reddit app, I wonder if .webms are ok in that ?

Does anyone know if it's ok on BBOS10 in other apps or can someone be really nice and test it for me ?

    Thanks a million!

i doubt you could go by a simulator to tell you whether the apps are going to work or not. What android runtime does it need? that would be a better predictor.

Yeah I did think the simlulator was not a good idea for testing apps. I've looked on F-droid.org and both apps say they require Android 4.0. Just need to know if they play webms and/or gifs really, I really hope they do! Always fancied a classic!

If you can direct me to something to test I'd try on my clasisc for you.

    Ah nice, thanks for that

These apps are open source stuff from f-droid.org so they should be safe

    Red Reader: https://f-droid.org/repository/brows...dger.redreader

    Clover: https://f-droid.org/repository/brows...rg.floens.chan

I'm sure you know of reddit, hopefully there's something in /gifs/ that's a webm
I'm not sure if you go to 4chan but I would try the /wsg/ board for a quick test of a webm/gif

Thanks for this, it's really appreciated

Both apps work perfectly. I was able to play gifs and the webm's.

The reddit in motion app for bb10 seems to work as well as I was able to do all of the same things but faster than android app. All ran well though and didn't run into any problems.

Good stuff. I think you'll enjoy it. There are limitations with the device but as long as what you do with it works, you'll be more than happy.

It is not easy to find a blue Classic, though.

Go for the Classic. It sounds like you're a good candidate for BB10.

BTW, did you ever consider a Passport? It's functionally the same but it's a powerhouse compared to the Classic.

I agree. I haven't been able to find a replacement for my Cobalt Blue one that was lost/stolen over the summer. The OP should get one soon since Classics in particular are pretty rare nowadays.

OP, if at all possible, i would keep your android phone as an app device. Most people on here use a two device set up that works nicely for them.

it's a little inconvenient, but what one lacks, the other makes up for.

get urself a passport silver edition and classic hehe returned the one u dont like after a week of testing haha. Might return the classic one not unless u dont mind the lag and just after the form factor. After using both of this device u will easily notice how slow classic is (obviously 2 v 4 cores)
