The following are the things people argue whether the Classic should have or not, and here is my opinion.
Specs (CPU/GPU): Should at least be better than the Q10, and should us new generation processor like Snapdragon 600/800 etc. Reason: gives incentive for z10/q10 users to upgrade. For all the people saying that Q10 specs are good enough, no. There are visible room for improvements, and the following scenarios are when Z10/Q10 specs constantly struggles by different degree:
    1. open up the text/bbm chat page (text history takes few seconds to load depend on the length)
    2. switch between language(sometimes) or typing a long text (200+ words)
    3. Navigating the phone while BBM Voice or BBM Chat
    4. Having multiple tabs open in browser and switching between them (sometimes the loaded page even has to reload)
    5. Having 6+ apps open at the same time
    6. Running Android apps.
    7. Carema response slowly at night time (slow to focus, lags significantly)
    8. Boot time (currently takes about 1.5 to 2 mins)
I personally don't play much gaming, and I think playing games on a small screen is pretty pointless anyway so I excluded that. For people who is saying that I should not have so many tabs/apps open at the same time, BB10 is supposed to be a multi-tasking OS, and Blackberry should put the latest generation internals to ensure that experience is good. And for people who is saying that just don't download Android apps, with the app situation of Blackberry's ecosystem today, it's hard not to. For people who is saying that better CPU drains batter it is actually incorrect. Newer chips runs more efficiently so unless the phone requires the CPU to run at a higher level, which the newer chip is capable of doing while old chips just struggles, in normal day light-task usage the newer chips actually saves battery in comparison. Plus, it's always nice to have better specs as it ensures that the phone will get more future support with OS updates etc.
3 GB of Ram: nice to have, as maybe it can allow more than the current limit of 8 apps running in the background. But 2 GB is just fine in current condition especially after 10.3 Ram usage optimization.
Better Camera Specs: yes, better camera specs are always welcomed, everybody relies on their phones to take pictures now. And Blackberry's camera in low light is just terrible currently.
Charging Contact: Personally don't care that much. However I think wireless charging will be a nice addition.
Removable battery: useful, but can be compensated by a battery bank. If they can make the battery itself bigger and make the phone itself more sturdy and durable, then it's fine.
Screen Resolution: I can't even tell the difference in PIXEL DENSITY between a 9900 and a Q10, therefore I think 720p will be fine for me as resolution goes. However, it should have great contrast, colour reproduction and brightness. These are more important in making the screen sharp comparing to just screen resolution alone.
Micro-SD card slot: Must needed, cloud storage is not fully mature yet with expensive data plans etc.
Convenience Key: Very useful but sadly unlikely to get it. However I believe the 10.3.1 will bring the shortcut key functionality back (eg. press B on the home screen to open the browser) which compensate the lack of convenience key to a degree.
Multi SimSlot: A shame that probably won't see it, as it's very useful for someone travels a lot like me.

    What do you guys think?

I don't know how much more "juice" the Classic really needs over the Q10, but it would be good to support USB OTG, for instance.

It does have that larger screen, for instance. That alone might be enough to prompt some Q10 owners to upgrade, especially when combined with the "belt".

    1. open up the text/bbm chat page (text history takes few seconds to load depend on the length)
That's the HUB, if you open BBM directly, it loads ay faster (after the 2 sec lag to actually show anything).

    3. Navigating the phone while BBM Voice or BBM Chat
Just swipe up and you're free to do anything?

    4. Having multiple tabs open in browser and switching between them (sometimes the loaded page even has to reload)
That's the (weird) way the tabs behave. To save on memory, if a page is not used for a while, the tab kills it, but keeps the URL in file and reloads the page when the tab is called.

    5. Having 6+ apps open at the same time
Limit is 8. Did you mean 8+? I'd like 10.

    6. Running Android apps.
Gets better and bettre by the update...

    7. Carema response slowly at night time (slow to focus, lags significantly)
The Classic seems to have addressed that already.

    8. Boot time (currently takes about 1.5 to 2 mins)
I don't mind it since I never really have to turn the device off. It's not needed on BB10 and unless you run into an issue, rebooting is also not needed. I see your point though.

3 GB of Ram: nice to have, as maybe it can allow more than the current limit of 8 apps running in the background. But 2 GB is just fine in current condition especially after 10.3 Ram usage optimization.
There is no longer a limit for headless apps. Only for Active Frames (since later 10.2.1 releases).

Better Camera Specs: yes, better camera specs are always welcomed, everybody relies on their phones to take pictures now. And Blackberry's camera in low light is just terrible currently.
    Amen.

Charging Contact: Personally don't care that much. However I think wireless charging will be a nice addition.
Nostalgia rush. Add inductive charging to the list.

Removable battery: useful, but can be compensated by a battery bank. If they can make the battery itself bigger and make the phone itself more sturdy and durable, then it's fine.
Z30 tought me how to live a non-removable life. It's possible.

720 is fine, provided you have 300ppi (limit of the human eye). The Z30 has 295ppi. It got a lot of grief. Specs don't really matter, but they do.

Micro-SD card slot: Must needed, cloud storage is not fully mature yet with expensive data plans etc.
    That is there.

Convenience Key: Very useful but sadly unlikely to get it. However I believe the 10.3.1 will bring the shortcut key functionality back (eg. press B on the home screen to open the browser) which compensate the lack of convenience key to a degree.
    Nostalgia Rush: Second Strike

Multi SimSlot: A shame that probably won't see it, as it's very useful for someone travels a lot like me.
AMEN. Won't happen on the Classic. Maybe some low-mid range model. They DID have a survey on that subject a few months ago.

    What do you guys think?
I think some of the stuff you want are already coming on either 10.3, 10.3.1 or the Classic itself.

The list I made for the CPU/GPU part meant when the phone starts to stutter, not that they can't perform at all. So like they start to stutter when I have many tabs open, running 6 or more active frames, navigating while having bbm video in the background...etc.
and yes, I do know that a lot of the features I said are coming. I am just listing out what people have been complaining about and my opinion on whether these complains are justified or not.

A feature that I want is the Classic to come with an updated version of Brick Breaker. I know I can already downloaded it, but that is just the beta, I want the full realese.

And what better way than to put it built in on the Classic.

The Classic doesn't "need" a faster CPU/GPU if we're happy to be limited to what the current one and a half year-old Q10 is capable of. But for some odd reason I would like it to be ready for what lies ahead. Call me weird...

If you mean the Passport, not a chance... I'm hopeful for Z30 or maybe slightly better but that's about it. I won't get my hopes up for more than that.

To those who argue faster CPU or specs are not needed, maybe true, but please note that people EXPECT better specs in the new phones. Also, Media will cut it into pieces with the spec comparisons, which will utimately hurt the sales. So, whether it is needed or not, it is a must have these days.

I don't know if you have noticed, but there are many threads in which many BB fans are saying they don't plan to upgrade to the Classic because it does not have much better specs than their current Q10. You don't want that type of response to a new phone soon to be released. A new phone should have enough improvements that anybody who has its previous model would want to upgrade (if they can afford it, of course). That approach has a better chance of success, don't you think?

Remember that Classic is a midrange phone, and BlackBerry has never been known to provide more specs than the customer is paying for. Usually less, actually.

I agree on your point that a new phone is expected to have better specs than its predecessor. Also, for those saying the Q10 does not need upgraded internals, how come we are always making fun of the iPhone when they float new phones without much change to the specs?

    Blackberry always.....

Exactly, when another company does it, people joke with "Look at this 'innovation'" but when BB does it, "It doesn't need better specs!" smh

When did John Chen say that it's a midrange. It's something that fans made up. The only word John Chen used to describe the Classic is "premium".

As long as it is a tool (not a toy) I'll be happy.

Large capacity, easily removable battery would be nice, but seems like it won't happen, at least not in the q20.

A slim device isn't a priority for me. After a certain point all this slimness simply becomes too slim to handle and battery life sucks.

It needs to be better than the q10. I have a z10 and want to "upgrade" to a classic. I just hope there is actually an upgrade, though my main concerns are the battery life, a real keyboard and physical call keys. I also look forward to the track pad.

It doesn't have to be a ton faster, but for me to replace my z10, it will need to be faster to some degree or it will be hard for me to justify the expense.

Latest evidence from the radio files for it in the latest OS leak points to Z30 specs. So not a specs monster, but still a bit of an upgrade. :-)

Z30 specs would be ok. Especially z30 battery life. Or better battery life.

I am bummed that it will only be 720 on the screen. That is under 300 ppi. I was hoping for 800 or even 960.

If they were building the Classic just for me, I would say my Z10 performance is fine, but having a Bold 9650 level of convenience would be great. I found the Bold to be very addictive, as quirky as it was. Hard to believe the early BB10 designers were willing to let so much of that go. But I hope to get some of that back with the Classic. (Hotkeys at least, if not convenience keys.) Kind of like a form vs function thing, I'm a function guy.

Reading the OPs post it looks like it will have 2gb memory , but reading on the net they mention only 1gb .
I think 1gb is not enough , as my Q5 already uses 1.5gb at the moment .

Internal memory of 8 gbyte : i find that to be not future proof enough . 16 gbyte would be fine .

Dual sim slot is needed .

NO cheap AMOLED please . Use a proper IPS screen so I can at least use my phone in direct sunlight .

    Wireless charging option .

The Classic doesn't "need" to be better than the Q10. Q10 owners are not the target market. It needs to be better than the 9900 and offer as close to a similar experience as possible with the new OS (hence the toolbelt). The spec choices are being made to keep the cost down so it is affordable to a larger demographic. If BlackBerry had put Passport specs into this phone, there would be griping about how the phone is too expensive.

Take it for what it is, a mid-range BB10 device designed to try to bring Legacy users into the fold. This isn't meant to be a flagship.
