    like the power button essentially did with my old Curve?

    i can't deal with a full reboot every day.

    p.s. i STILL CAN'T get to the music player options.

    You have not to reboot!! Put airplane mode and press the power button just one time!! Screen blackens and the phone sleeps.
    The battery drain is 1-2% only over night!
