I just received this text message from T-Mobile. They are moving quickly with the Classic.

The only question is does it have wi-fi calling preinstalled? If not then you can get unlocked for $100 less.

From what I read here at CB, the wifi calling will be added in a future update. To the best of my knowledge, it is not included in the current 10.3.1. I may be wrong on that though. As for the unlocking, you will have to go through their customer service. There is no charge for their unlocking.

I got it from T-Mobile today and it does not come pre-installed.

I read that it might come to the Classic at some point, but I've gotten used to not having it since I've had the Z30 and Passport unlocked on T-Mobile.

Is your Classic from T-mobile unlocked or locked (carrier branded)?

I haven't tried another carrier's sim, but I am almost positive that it's unlocked because it is the same boxing as Shop BlackBerry, and even has the "complimentary 30 day support" page from BlackBerry in the box.

There is zero T-Mobile branding on the device (no logo on back or front beneath the keyboard), and not even a T-Mobile sticker on the box other than the $50 restocking fee one.

Settings > Security & Privacy > SIM Card

Scroll to the bottom and it'll tell you if the phone's unlocked.

Nice to hear that there's no ugly Carrier branding on it.

Yeah, I agree. I get the feeling that this T-Mobile/BlackBerry reunion was very recent and rushed, so they didn't have time to brand the phones or put their usual T-Mobile apps on the phones. I mean not even the box had a printed trace of T-Mobile, whereas my Q10 and Z10 from T-Mobile came in T-Mobile branded boxes.

Sounds like this first batch of T-Mo Classics came straight from Shop BlackBerry!

I believe so. It's weird because my mom has a Classic from Amazon and her OS is a little older, so these T-Mobile ones have a new OS. She's also on T-Mobile, but when I check for software updates, it says there's a server error.
