Just starting a thread to get 9900 users' opinions on upgrading to the Classic.

I've been using the Bold 9900 for the past 4 years and have yet to be compelled to upgrade as it's the best device that suits my needs perfectly.

As Blackberry's main target for the Classic was the loyalist who are still using the aging Bold 9900, I feel they should offer discount/credits to existing Bold 9900 users to upgrade to the Classic.
I am not interested in signing contracts and would like to purchase the Classic outright as many other fellow users.

Blackberry did offer credit in the past for upgrading to the Z10 and Q10, I don't see a reason why they wouldn't do that now for the Classic.

Strikes me as kind of silly. BlackBerry Classic is better in so many ways - be it the browsing experience, the hub, no lags, no BIS. I don't really get the logic.

Yes but this is cash for your old phone (which I can sell for $80). At the time, I received an email offering a $100 off to upgrade to a new Z10 or Q10.

The Verizon Classic is just $399 off contact seems like a good price to me.

I agree with you EXCEPT the no BIS comment...I would pay a small monthly fee to have BIS back on my Classic

I feel like if they want to move hardware, they should offer the incentives to people who are on other platforms. Similar to auto manufacturers when they offer special incentives to current owners of competing vehicles.

Just sell yours. You'll get more for it that way than any trade program. Why would BlackBerry want to take back 4 year old devices and give you a discount on a phone that's already super cheap?

Maybe they just use BlackBerry os for email, bbm and sms. No need for cool, shinny, new os10, just work work work, and this kind of marketshare that BlackBerry targeted

I don't have a Classic, but I have a Bold 9900 and a Q10. Very different phones. The Q10 is much better in terms of the variety of apps and web browsing speed, but the Bold 9900 is hard to beat for messaging and the user interface. It's still a tough decision. It depends what you need. If all I wanted was messaging, I'd save my money and keep the Bold. If I wanted more than that, I'd upgrade. I wouldn't bother trading in my Bold for $40 though. I like it more than that.

Who would pay $80 for an old 9900? That's crazy talk.

The Classic KILLS the 9900 in every way. What is all this silliness?

I still don't get it why there are still people think os7 is better than os10. Well, I guess it's all about preferences.

It's $499 (plus tax it comes up to ($550) on Blackberry Canada's online store.

Can't shell out $550 for a phone that does essentially the same things as the bold 9900, just in a different fashion. Just my opinion. Tried the Z30 fro a few days, went back to Bold 9900.

There's no question that the Classic is much better (the bold is 4 years old device), but the Bold still accomplishes the basics like email, texting, memos, passwords, and phone calls in most efficient way, probably on par with the Classic.

The 'silliness' is because a lot of people would disagree with the "every" in your statement. Every newer phone is better than the 9900 in some ways, but it holds its own very nicely with respect to a few select functions.

And of course, hardware-wise, it's nicer looking "in every way"

    Haven't tried a 9900. I only have a Z10. But I just can't think how BB10 is slow. I wish someone would give me a 9900
