    Instead of double tap if I hold for slightest bit too long it will add periods where I don't want them, it should only be from a double tap.. to me this is a problem.. started after latest update

    That's because pressing and holding space will keep putting spaces in the text box until you let go. This is unlike holding and pressing a letter which will capitalize it but only insert one letter.

    Yes, but it will first put a period there if you were typing something.

    This has been happening on my Q10 lately. I thought my Q10 had succumb to the dreaded double-type issue. But I have been installing a few OS leaks lately. Your post at least gives me a little hope it's just a software issue.
