How long will u think blackberry classic will be supported software wise. It's having the hardware of q10 and q10 is two years old and classic is less than a year old but old hardware. Right now we are on 10.3.2 so how long will classic be supported in terms of software updates and adding features before blackberry calls it Quits for classic

I think it will depend on whether they've truly decided to move to a heavily skinned version of Android, or if the Venice is some sort of exception.

I think currently it is completely unknown how future update support will look for *any* BB10 device - Passport included! Personally I doubt they'll drop software support any time soon, yet I am more or less sure it will be limited to bug and security fixes. I pretty much doubt we'll see any feature rich updates for any BB10 device.

If they update classic they will have to forcefully update q10 as they both have same hardware

Don't wanna be nitpicky, but according to our 9900/9930 forums, the latest firmware dates back to early this year. I also remember I used the 9900 till May 2013 and installed an update earlier that year, last but not least I surely remember they kept releasing further updates that year.

Sure there are no features, big improvements, but they still fixed bugs and maybe closed some security related holes. As of now, I am pretty sure BB10 will suffer the same fate from now on.

Again I don't want to be a party breaker, but even though Z10 and Q10 have virtually identical hardware to more recent devices like the Classic, that doesn't mean they'll keep updating them. Other companies demonstrate such updating policies on regular basis, where they abandon certain devices even though the hardware is fully capable of still running newer versions just fine. I kind of doubt BlackBerry will act like that, but with the current focus on money saving, everything could be possible.

January 2014, maybe? Even then, that OS is still older.

Looks like I haven't done my homework properly, didn't notice the OS was that old.

Google "BlackBerry life cycle" and you should be taken to official BlackBerry support page or close, where it says updates ended 2014 and updates are a best effort. I take that to mean if it has a high exploit score.

Please stop asking questions no one can answer. Chen said they are "fully committed to BB10 OS". All we know at the time being is that they are making an Android phone. That's all we know.
