Can someone please explain to me how these functions work on a BlackBerry Classic and if it depletes the battery any more than when confirm delivery is disabled?

    Thanks!

I'm not certain if it would deplete the battery more, if so it would most likely, I'd imagine, be very minute.

It works by alerting you to when an SMS/MMS has been received to the inbox intended. Enabling read confirmation will send you a receipt letting you know your msg has been opened by intended recipient. What happens is you will receive an alert following sending confirming its' actions as per your selected setting choice.
