    Hello, everybody!

I'm returning to use BB devices and the Classic seems good.

    however, Skype simply doesn't ring...

    Can you fix it?

Skype just sucks. Even on the Passport. It is just a bad Android port.

I've been using Skype on the Classic to make phone calls and it works like charm. Could you post some more details as to the problem?

Works fine for me, though i'd say the only issue I've had so far is not getting notifications when Skype is not running.

I use Skype twice a week for about two hours for video chatting with family with both of my BlackBerry Passport and Classic. Without any problems at all.

I was in a Skype meeting at work last week, and we couldn't get Windows 7 version working, so I pulled out my Classic and it worked well.
Really, to have good Skype, you need:
    1) healthy data rate
    2) low latency
    3) low jitter
The network has a big influence on the Skype experience IMHO.

The skype in BlackBerry is consuming lots of your battery life. Well, to be honest, it is outdated.

On my Classic Skype doesn't even start. Screen gets black and then it's even difficult to kill the app again.
Using the standard Skype app from BB store btw

That's the one thing I noticed. It sucked the battery. I assumed that was normal since I never previously used it on a phone.
Are there other options that perform better?

May I suggest to install the .apk directly from
and to install it from your download folder. The latest version is better than the BB-world version. The device seems not to heat as much and I noticed that closing the app is okay (sometimes it stays open in the background with the version of BB-WORLD)

Skype makes my Classic freeze and crash, necessitating a re-start. It's the official version from BB World. I am surprised by some of the comments here saying it runs perfectly on their Classics.

Skype froze up my Classic when I tried to install it. Two install tries with no luck. Download was from BlackBerry World.

Just tried to re-install because of the positive experiences mentioned above. I had my classic freeze up three times: (1) while launching (which took ages), (2) when logging in, (3) on the "home" screen. I never got to actually use the app. Crashing my phone's OS is a very BAD issue; this app should not be made available on BB World.

I'm experiencing the crashes also. Worked perfectly for a while and now I can't even start the app, it locks up the phone and I have to restart it by holding down on the power button. The phone becomes completely unresponsive otherwise.

I've experienced the same crashing and opted to just delete the app a few days ago. However, I now keep getting a notification that my password for Skype needs to be updated? Does anyone know how to stop this? I no longer even have the Skype app on my Classic and still get this notification. Help, please! And thank you in advance.

If you want a decent Skype experience on your Classic, you need to download the most up-to-date version from Snap, or Google Play, and patch it with Lucky Patcher to remove Google Play Services dependency, then install it. It will work fine. You're I'm assuming using the app from BBW? It's a POS. Always has been.
