Is anyone experiencing short battery life and slight overheating when just browsing the Web and using BlackBerry Hub? My software versio is 10.3.1.1779

I'm not, but I know that the more time you spend running apps and using your phone, the shorter your battery life will be and the warmer your phone will get.

Realised that it was the .1779 software that was causing the battery drain. Time to upgrade via autoloader and stuffs.

Try doing a soft boot once a week.
(press and hold both the volume keys on the side. Ignore the screenshot taken and hold it till you BlackBerry goes off and restarts).
Software eventually sits.
also in your device manager turn of background running of apps when minimized. Especially for Whatsapp and the notorious Android ported apps (if you have any).
