I used to be able to switch between automatic and manual but now there is no longer any choice under network selection. Cricket ( ATT mvno) has been having some problems here regionally which means I'm getting bumped from LTE to edge. I'm on 10.3.2.552 and I remember being able to not only select the provider but the bands ( 4g vs LTE) has that choice been recently removed? Or moved? Thanks

Go to settings -> Network and Connections -> Mobile Network.

Now here, select your preferred network mode.
And scroll down and select Network Selection Mode to be manual.
Once its manual, scan your area for available networks and select the one you desire.

That's how I used to do it, that's no longer a choice. Under network settings I have but two choices, mobile network, data and scan for att microcell. I can see the network it's connected to but there is no choice for automatic nor manual. I looked on line and it looks like this can be set by the carrier which I think kind of stinks.

Try some reboots. Your carrier might have done some changes during maintenance.

My phone used to show 2G, 3G, and 4G in the mobile network setting. After the carrier did a maintenance now it shows GSM, UMTS, HSPA+, and LTE.

This is what I get when I go to network settings
Selecting network?-img_20161101_025102.png and if you scroll down this is the bottom of that page

It looks like cricket has fixed the LTE problems but I always remembered having the choice for manual or automatic. But that might have been on my Z10 which I no longer use and it might have been like this from the jump on my ATT branded classic.
