After reading this thread I got the idea, that there should be an online store at Foxconn where you can buy a DIY BlackBerry Classic Assembly Kit. That way people with lots of time, passion and patience can build their own perfectly assembled BlackBerry. Of course the kit should cost just half of the price.

Not if you stick an SD card in it

Mine looks like that too. It is going back. It has a couple other issues such as an uneven screen on the bottom against the toolbar. This is not a $150 throw away device. If Blackberry is going to charge $450 for this device, it darn well better be made accordingly, or they can keep replacing them at their expense until they get the message. I like BB and like the classic, but there is no excuse for qc like this for what they are charging for this phone.

Your call then... I took my SD card out for that shot, and it's back in and nice and snug now.
I think if you're on this thread, and have the issue, you should probably send it back. It'll fester.

Asked my girlfriends if she would keep a phone like that. She is usually not picky when it comes to build quality.

She said no way. So it's going back. Hoping for a good device now...

Mine aren't perfectly aligned either, but I didn't buy a Rolls Royce that I would expect everything to be perfect on, I bought a cell phone which though not perfect in every way, it has met the requirements and expectations of the most important consumer, myself!!

Although that is true to some extent with everything, the level of expectation is usually consistent with what you see in comparable devices. It is true that we did not buy a Rolls Royce, and I am not going to argue whether uneven trays, gaps/light bleed, dead pixels, etc., are important or not. However, if the phone you buy for a medium to high price has noticeable physical defects that you had not previously seen in your other BB10 or different brand devices, it is natural to be unhappy about it and come to the conclusion that Classic's quality is not on par with other devices.

Trying to justify the defects and downplaying their importance because we are BlackBerry fans are IMO unacceptable, and certainly not to BlackBerry's long term interest!

My z30 white case would get dirty. It also had an odd rattling sound if I shook it and one time I did that and it rebooted.

If your foxconn special was made by the shaky handed dude on the line, send it back.

All BlackBerry 10 phones seem to have poor manufacturing.
Z10 with the battery reboot issue, q10 as well
    Q10 keyboard malfunctioning
My third passport has lightbleed, even though my first didn't, and all 3 of them have a skewed screen on the top right that pops out more than on the left. And my second one had no feedback for the mute key
Z30 and the dreaded loose volume keys on every single one.

Cheap manufacturing and terrible Qc it seems, not just in Foxconn!

My wife's Z10 phone mic stopped working after 10 months and could only make phone calls using the speaker (and presumably the other mic). My Q10 suffered appalling double typing and would reset when tapped on a hard surface.

My classic has uneven trays, but not enough to be a big problem, just annoying, and my trackpad is slightly skew.

    Yep, poor quality control.

As much as all these problems suck, I don't believe it's BlackBerry's fault. It's a problem in the assembly system. The workers are humans and humans make mistakes. Remember that they only have very little time for each step.

You had to order 100 or 1000 device to make a qualified judgement whether there is a big problem in the quality control. And only people that have a problem come here and comment, so our perception of reality is skewed.

The trays aren't uneven on mine but then I always have a case on it too so even if they were I wouldn't see it.

Thanks for the pic! A dozen whiners and only 2 post a photo. Clear who cares and who trolls for BlackBerry hugs.

I'll say this much, if everyone thinks the endless mewling on a message board gets BlackBerry attention, then this thread should be filled with photos.

    Filled.

That's my impression too. Hate to say it, but I had initial problems with almost every BlackBerry device I've owned so far. The best one yet is ironically the Classic. Though I have to say my SD tray also isn't aligned proberly. Doesn't bother me too much.

I replaced my device and I am Glad that I did. The only issue with this new model is the trackpad seems "off" just a Lil to the left; but I have an even screen now and zero light bleed so I am perfectly fine keeping this model. I love this phone its so "me"....... Classic

It's too bad BlackBerry went with external SD + SIM card trays. That has been putting me off from buying one. I have seen a number of demo models in stores and they all looked misaligned. Why didn't they put it under a removable back cover.
