    I can almost see the training scenario...

    Human walks into store asks for a "BlackBerry Classic."

    Employee says, "here, look at this amazing iPhone, you do not want a BlackBerry, they're dying".

    Human leaves store with shiny new iToy, extended warranty, 150$ worth of case and accessories.

    I am ready for my Rogers employment package.

    Haha so not true and some reps enjoyed the live demo a blackberry employee showed

    I went with my brother last year to check out the S4 at an AT&T store. All the employee can talk about is how amazing the iPhone was. When I ask to check out the Q10 he was booing and giving me a thumbs down gesture.

    That is a story repeated tens of thousands of times.

    "Saletools" did so much harm to BlackBerry during the first year of the Z/Q10 release.

    I experienced it myself, when I wanted to upgrade from my 8900. I was told BlackBerry is dying, that BlackBerry is garbage.

    Two of my favorites:

    "The os is so OLD it won't run apps"
    The dumb punk didn't even know BB10 was new, not a single bit of old code.

    "Samsung owns BlackBerry, you should just buy this new Android"
    That dumb bit*h seriously believed that BlackBerry was bought out by Samsung.

    Moral of the story is: "don't be a sheep, know what you want before you go into a store... and don't let some "tool" talk you into something else".

    I really look forward to the Q3 report, and I believe John Chen turned the tide this time by making profit.
    BLACKBERRY shall rise again !
    Then all those investors, and pretend reviewers, and backstabbing users, and naysaying tools, and self-proclaimed pundits; and all of a sudden no one can think of anything to say.
    John Chen will be standing on the rocketing BBRY stock arrowhead and point down at them say " HA - HA "
    (sounded by Nelson from The Simpsons)
    THE END

    Our training on BlackBerry 10 devices was actually quite extensive.

    Y'know, I sometimes doubt that. Both retail store location reps (and I mean the actual Rogers, not licensed ones) and most telephone reps have confirmed my suspicion that they do not know about BB10's capability to run Android apps.

    I've done the training. It was far beyond the training we've received with any other device. In fact, the training we had gotten with the iPhone and BlackBerry 10 was comparable. The majority of Android devices there is no training given, just some reading info which by itself is not much.

    I find the Reps to be much nicer and telling you the truth about every device they carry at Authorized Retailer stores, like there's a small Verizon Store owned by a man who lives in my town.
    I guess it's kind of like a franchise just not really sure how it works.

    Haha! Amazing! Thankfully, from the postings on this thread, that doesn't seem to be the case (at least not the training material anyway). Can't wait to get my hands on a Classic and dying for some official news on the white version.

    As a rule of thumb I never placed negative ideas around any of the devices! I'm not gonna lose a sale and rather id prefer to cater to a customer's needs! If they suit a BlackBerry then I'll promote it. But I would never poo poo other devices as it just makes you look really bad.

    That would be considered violating the terms of working there. Everything reps to is between reps and other co-workers. There is no training for me for the classic however my rogers store got a demo unit to fool with and got a quick review from a blackberry employee.

    That's how it should be but most people don't do that. I got the following responses when asking for a new BlackBerry since the Z10 launch

    I don't know if we sell BlackBerry anymore
    I've never heard of the Z10
    There are not many BlackBerry users left
    I heard they were bankrupt
    We were told we have to send all our Blackberrys back, there not selling
    Most recently on my passport purchase, oh I never actually seen it before it's my first time opening the box.

    She then was quite impressed with the touch enabled keyboard and other stuff.

    Usually I get pushed towards an iPhone.

    I guess, just based on the Rogers employees in this thread, that there are resources and training, however sometimes you encounter:

    a) Someone who really doesn't care and didn't pay attention during training;

    b) A rep who was a new hire and missed the training session(s);

    c) A genuinely biased individual who ignores the merits of BlackBerry and pushes their idea of the better product / the higher commission;

    d) A Cylon;

    Which can lead to some of those ignorant comments, I suppose. Especially in retail, you can't always count on people giving a $#!*, I suppose.

    Generally speaking it's usually more personal bias vs commission. The commission doesn't actually come from the product itself, I don't know why this is the mindset of many others as well on multiple different tech websites though. Rogers couldn't care less if you sold an iPhone vs a BlackBerry, the commission is based off services and not hardware.

    The worst are retailers. I work for a competitor to Rogers (still a Rogers client) and they are downright oblivious.

    Our BlackBerry 10 was basic and only when BlackBerry 10 came out. Nothing since.

    Perhaps you didn't notice...this thread is about Rogers employees receiving training on a new BlackBerry device, which is a positive thing.

    I was an employee! So when I was calling around the week the passport was launched I got quite a few odd responses like you! And as an ex employee I was shocked that their managers would allow this type of conduct with misinformation. If mr.luc caught wind of this stuff would go down, as Rogers has been on a campaign to improve customer service!
