Requesting help with retrieving information off a blackberry classic that’s water damaged and will not turn on pass the blackberry screen. I was originally trying to have it fixed but at this point I would just rather get the information that’s in the notes pics and contacts/ text messages off the phone if possible looking for a place in Baltimore or in Atlanta if possible trying to do/ get this done as soon as possible also if this can be done generally what’s the prices?

If it can be done... then it defeats all the security that is baked into the phone.

Sorry but unless you can unlock you phone (and the encryption) your data is not accessible to a repair shop or even BlackBerry.

Best option would be if someone can repair the water damage... only if it didn't reach the SoC. Maybe buy another Classic and have the SoC swapped out... $25 - $100 for a used Classic, $75- $150 for a repair tech, and a shot in the dark if it would work.

I am pretty sure the SoC holds (at least a portion of) the encryption key.

Board-level repair isn't easy to find but if it was mine, I would contact Rossmann Group (Louis Rossmann on YouTube) in NYC. It won't be cheap but they actually know what they are doing and have the proper equipment to fix boards correctly. They aren't BB specialists or anything, but the people you could trust, especially with data recovery involved, is a very short list.

Smilez, you've already attempted ways of drying out the phone, connecting it via USB, etc yes? It's occasionally possible to resurrect phones in this situation so I thought I'd run it by you just in case...
