Since the classic had additional cost on the software side to develop they probably thought using proven and old internals would be a good way to cut hardware development cost.

Considering the audience is somewhat limited it makes sense... as much as I hate to think that two year old internals make sense. It has to be for inventory clear out though because they could have done the same with the Z30 internals or even maybe passport if they really wanted to.

I am in the UK London on a Z10 thinking about moving to the PP or the Z30 and now the classic I need just a few apps I don't do films just emails Facebook and send photos of time sheets as I work in construction as a plaster out of the three which would do the best photos as for battery mine just about lasts 11hours and some times well in to the red the classic will be in Selfridge 's on the 3d of January .would all three last well in to the night on light use.

I think that the classic is meant to be the phone that the Q10 had trouble being. The Z10 and Q10 were supposed to migrate people into the BB10 environment, but because they were so radically different than the legacy devices they replaced (AKA being all touch), nothing worked as planned. Enter the classic with the reintroduction of the toolbelt, and you've got a device people can transition into. Specs weren't the issue for a device that was meant to be what it is, and still is not, so why amp up the specs? If/when they release consumer devices again in the future, you'll see the specs upgraded to handle media consumption because that would be their intended purpose, but not for devices like the classic.

Maybe it is because they are planning to launch a second edition of the blackberry classic next year, just apple is doing... iphone5 and then 5s with higher specs, their strategy is working absoluty, and they are making a lot of money on that. so if the blackberry will become a hit, they will achieve similar result if using that strategy. This is just a though of mine, what do you think?

That has nothing to do with the specs. It does the same on the passport. The site runs even worse in chrome.

I think it just boils down to that the Classic isn't aimed at people who's highest priority is having higher numbers than other people. For what it's meant to do, the Classic's specs are perfectly fine, and it keeps costs down. It's not the ideal shape for multimedia and games, so it doesn't need to be built to do those things.

I don't think there's some huge conspiracy behind the phone's specs.

Are you running the site in desktop mode? I'm typing this from the mobile site and it works fine in the browser.

That's how the iphone would access it as it doesn't have the option for desktop mode.

If anyone thinks dismantling Q and Z10s to reuse the components is cost effective think again. Need to set up a line for the job, very labour intensive, I'm just guessing here but I'll bet it would come out at 3 times the cost of new components if not more

I doubt highly anything is being dismantled at this point. The last quarterly numbers suggested there isn't a Z10 or Q10 inventory issue anymore. That inventory in warehouse or channel is burned through

Even though it was to pull legacy people in its just sad that they couldn't add the $20 to the BOM and make a GREAT phone that also puts the legacy people on board.

If they release one more phone underspecced I might just let go of the shares I own. My confidence in them is minimal despite the turnaround. I want to believe but the little things just keep smacking me in the face.

I believe its called 'planned obsolescence'. Year from now a Classic refresh with more and better to gain more sales from people who want to upgrade or get a new phone.

Well I hope their plan works. Quite honestly I'm more worried about them keeping the phones coming out than my shares haha. Would hate for the OS to die.
