I started with a q10, went to passport, back to q10 and now classic. Now yes the passport (quad) is faster than the clasic which is a dual core, but it still works great, no lags, no freezes, still multitask like a workhorse.

It's the same MSM8960 in the Classic as the Q10, Z10, P998x and Leap (Z30 is clocked about 200 MHz higher). The 8960 was launched in 2012 and announced in 2010, so it was already getting long in the tooth when BB10 was new.

I find that the BB10 os is effective at making the most of the hardware so it seems fast. Yes passport is faster better hardware. But it lacks the beauty of the classic. Also the classic for being lower end hardware still holds its own.

Classic ran OK for me. I'm very, very impatient, moved from Z10 - Z30 for that reason. Classic was OK - never experienced lag other than opening massive files.

How is the Q10 compared to the classic. I have a Z30 but have decided to go to a classic or Q10 for emails/bbm and run an iphone for apps that I may need

Yes it's slow. Compare it to a Passport and you'll see.

    Classic is better.
The trackpad alone is worth the extra cash. The trackpad makes text editing is much, much quicker. But you also get menu, call, and end keys, and a larger display.

I love my Classic but I really think Passport is noticeably faster than Classic in opening apps, multitasking and such. I do miss the smaller form factor and the trackpad tho..

The Classic, IMO, runs incredibly smooth for the specs that it has. The only real "lag" that I notice is Android apps run noticeably slower. BB10 wise, I think that the speed is negligible.

Very smooth here, yes sometimes can lag but not as often as I expected.

For it's size and specs, it's like the SE of BB10. It's the little brother of the pack that can hang with the big boys in most categories, just not all of them.

I have a midrange android slab (Samsung A3) as a second phone...it feels faster in most respects than the Classic.

Looking forward for that pkb phone coming up. Should come soon ;-)

It depends on your use case. I mostly browse the Web and do email. So for me it's perfectly acceptable. If you are a heavy app user you will probably be disappointed with it. I find if I have more than a few apps running and a few browser tabs it becomes slow. But it's kind of uncommon for me. The other day I had the hub opened, three browser tabs, music player, and maps going all at once and it was still chugging along okay. It's really when the android apps come into play that you will start having issues.

It also can't really handle Android apps. It's slower than the Passport, but still functional.

BB10 is just generally getting slow now, especially the way it handles cloud storage files. And Internet. And a few other important things like waking from sleep sometimes.

Still the best OS at its base, but it hasn't been maintained. The height of BB10 was actually 10.2.1

I'll qualify my previous post by saying that, compared to Z30, it's noticeably sluggish in basic operation, but nothing you couldn't live with for the PKB. Having used both, I'd say Q10 is a better balance of spec and performance, if you can live without the trackpad, which is seriously handy for text editing.

You really can't compare...one is for productivity, while the other is purely for media consumption.

The way I have heard it told, android isn't a very efficient operating system.

dtek50 will slay the q10 no doubt. this is coming from a q10 user. It's a Good and fast phone but only when using native apps and socializing. Android apps will definitely cause the phone to lag but this comes to play with almost all the bb10 phones.
