I know of a third party app that can make Pebble smartwatches compatible with BlackBerry 10 devices, but all I'm seeing is it working with the Pebble Time, which is $150. There is a cheaper Pebble Watch for $80. Does anyone know if this one will b compatible with BlackBerry 10 devices?

All Pebble watches (including Pebble Time and Pebble Time Round) are supported in Bridge. I highly suggest Pebble Time if you can afford it.

Check out Bridge in BlackBerry World! You can find it at http://appworld.blackberry.com/webst...ntent/59983189

I did have the original Pebble working on my Q10, more or less. I had used the Android version of the Pebble application. I may have had to use a 3rd party application as well, can't quite recall.

So can you use all the features like SMS notifications, email, twitter, phone calls, etc. on the basic Pebble watch?

SMS and email notifications : Yes.
Twitter : DM and mentions with Blaq. You can read your Timeline with the watchapp Twebble.
Phone calls : CallerID works, but you can't dismiss a call with Pebble.
Facebook : All notifications support with Face10 Pro.

Other notifications that works : Limited WhatsApp notifications, BlackBullet, PocketSafe, BlackBerry-france blog, United blogs, PowerTools.

ProtectMe also allows you to lock your device if bluetooth connection is lost with your Pebble (ie: you forgot your phone at the restaurant)

Do you need to have all these apps open on your phone while in use on the watch?

You can also use Talk2watch Pro with the original pebble.

All apps related with Bridge are headless, no need to keep any of them opened.

For Talk2Watch, it kinda work in headless mode, but if you want to take advantage of all its features, you'll need to keep it running as an Active Frame. From reading Talk2Watch thread, there seems to be quite a few issues lately, you might have to use Pebble app to install firmware and watchfaces. Timeline watchapps, Health and Voice technology doesn't work at all on Talk2Watch.

If you get the original pebble or the pebble steel then I'd use talk2watch pro, if you get the pebble time or round then go for the bridge app. I have a pebble steel and talk2watch works great for me.
