Ordered a Classic for my dad today a little tensed because of the double typing that I have read. He has been using a Bold 9900 and it took a bit of convincing to keep him on BlackBerry. A little tensed about how the phone will run android apps as well. Hoping it's a positive experience. *fingers crossed*

Didn't face any double typing issues and I've been using the classic daily since it was released. The android apps I use run perfectly.

But I don't have any Android apps running, don't need to..

    Good luck!

It's a shame that it had to take a little bit of convincing.

The Android apps I have downloaded (Spotify, Waze, and Monument Valley) all work well on the Classic albeit maybe a few seconds longer to open up. Every once in a blue moon I'll get the "Unfortunately, app has stopped working" error message but I get these on my Nexus 7 tablet sometimes too so no big deal.

So far no double typing issue. I've had the Classic about a month now so it may be too early to tell, but compared to the Q10 which suffered from a few non-responsive keys/double typing, the feel of the Classic key response is much better. It's more clicky than the Q10 was. Q10 felt more mushy to me.

He didn't know about the new BlackBerry. He was using the Bold 9900 and didn't know where had BlackBerry moved to. When I say convince it's not like he wanted to buy something and I made him buy a BlackBerry. He himself is very comfortable with the keyboard and toolbelt. He didn't buy the Q10 because of the missing toolbelt. It's not his fault that people don't know about BlackBerry 10 as much as they know about the other brands.

That sounds like what happened with me and my mom. She had a Bold 9780 and then a Q10.

She was looking at iPhones since, surprise, all her friends have them and tell her how great they are. After we visited my sister and my mom was looking at her iPhone 6, I could tell she wasn't into it.

So a week later, she said she wanted to get a new phone, and I suggested the Classic, but asked about her iPhone interest. She said, "I don't want an iPhone. What am I going to do on that thing anyways? I'll stay with BlackBerry" so I ordered a Classic for her on Amazon, and after a few weeks of having it and adjusting to the trackpad usage again, she loves it. No double typing. The camera takes better pictures (or maybe just looks better?). The battery lasts a lot longer. She doesn't use any apps. Just BlackBerry Weather. So for calls and texts and sending some pictures, it's a great phone.

Yeah I'm a bit put off from the Classic now too. There are like 7 double typing threads - some people claim EVERY Classic is going to eventually double type. Maybe it's a bit reassuring to hear there are people who've had this phone since launch and haven't had it pop up yet.. but it's still only a 6 month sample..

Hey. I was in a similar situation when my dad broke his Q10's screen a few months ago. I thought that this would be a great opportunity for him to try out the new Blackberry Classic. So far so good. He enjoys the bigger screen size, raised keyboard, and well placed tool belt. I don't see my dad going back to the Q10 after using the Classic for over a month now.

Mine arrived today! It's got me a little tense; not so much from double typing as from learning a new phone. Just upgraded from the 9930 (which I loved) and the Classic is a tad more sophisticated.
Can't wait 'til I learn my way around it. Have to un cross my fingers to get it done, though. Good luck to your dad. I know how he feels about his Bold .

I am wondering if people see double typing when having a lot of active windows open. I have not experienced it so far but I have the tendency to close unused apps not leaving them run in the background.
