Hello,... Wake up and quit trying to tell people what to do and how to do it. Based on YOUR knowledge. Most people if they pre-order are long time users of the BB product. Always remember sheep follow, Blackberries grow in bunches and take over eventually! It's always a certain OP who chooses to voice there opinion without research. Most Dedicated Blackberry purchaser's know far before a pre-order or or release date what's coming and how strong a device it will be. Most of us don't just go buy based on "i GOT to have it based on popularity" purchase. Just my thoughts!

Here are the specs that matter to those ordering the Classic (which I, personally, will not because I love the Passport):

    - Belt
    - Track pad
    - Legacy features that had been missing from BB10

This was not a troll thread and i am glad at least a few people in this thread can see my point of view.
May I suggest then that you lead with your opinion only and without casting aspersions on a large group of people by starting with:

Seriously what is wrong with you people?
Once the tone was set by this inflammatory lead, it was a troll thread plain and simple...albeit with some valid points. It was left to fester without any follow up from you so it grew into an emotionally galvanized thread so here we are.

I actually agree with you but on a larger level, I would never "pre-order" anything..even if I knew the full specs and price. That is just me however, I realize that there are some who just feel closer to their desired purchase by finalizing their purchase in advance and I get that as well.

The risk of a pre-order is the price some are willing to pay as it gives them value to have the pre-order...who are we to say that the value is not worth the risk?

There's need to release the official specs on BB WORLD if they want everyone to preorder.

    Sweet device to look at

I doubt specs matter too much to the target market. Has extra buttons, still has a QWERTY keyboard, isn't too different from the decrepit Bold they've been hanging on to.
Thurask has nailed it on the spot. I too concur with him and will add that as much berry users and crack berry blokes put together seem overly enthusiastic about latest offerings from BB they are not the kind of people who hanker after high end specs. They don't precariously tread between being a droid rooting tech nerds or devil-may-care-am-nevertheless-going-to-bust-this-droid-with-overdose-of-apps.
Amongst the general public an average Blackberry user is more aware of the kind of productivity he expects from a device that BB is capable of offering as on today. Some of them have been tethered to their Bolds; now a decadent idea. Where do this reasonably mature Johnny turn to? BB is not oblivious to huge demand no supply situation either and they are going all out to keep these Johnnies under the fold and even wean away OS 7 users who are still using even more decrepit devices. I fail to see how blackberry as a company who have to make profit and account for the stocks and judge the supply situations is going wrong and be termed as archaic if they are calling for pre-bookings?
As for majority of Crackberrians here, they have already sieved through tonnes of dried ink on speculations and spec sheets and prudently knew what to expect from this device. OP may have a point about customer rights but he is wide off the mark saying Berry users have no self respect as end customers.

Not all users really care about specs. I can see many Q10 users who will pre-order the Classic just because of the addition of the toolbelt.

I--personally--wouldn't order without specs, but it's hardly "criminal" to offer a device for pre-order without detailed specs. Caveat emptor, as always.

You're wrong OP! The specs have been listed. Here they are in case you missed them.

    - Keyboard and navigation keys designed for optimal speed and accuracy
    - Large square touch screen
    - Amazingly fast and astoundingly beautiful web browsing
    - A battery that powers through
    - Ability to install Android and BlackBerry apps

How much more detail can one man handle?

What would be criminal is if the folks who pre-order don't actually get their phones first. Anyone who knows digital river knows that the pre-orders are rolling their dice here. It may be better to just order when the phone is available.

I agree, I don't think it's an issue to have the preorder and don't see a problem with others doing it, but me personally, I'm waiting to hear more, or at least for Amazon since cancelling a preorder with them is no hassle...

well.... i was very busy for the last day or so so couldnt reply... i did not anticipate such a response.

Anyway, i clearly dont have time, nor am i willing to quote and reply to every post! but i've read them all and i just want to say a few things.

    1) I am not a spec *****; my Q10 runs perfectly and i could not care less about the latest Octa core Samsung.

    2) Too many people are getting hooked up on the idea of "you spec *****", "if you want X cores buy Y", "if youre looking for flagship buy a passport", etc. You're missing the point i was trying to make. The point being WE DONT KNOW WHAT WE ARE BUYING. We have rumoured specs (is anyone really gonna refute this?). This is about a principal! not so much "hurr durr i dont care about specs". No company should act this way when trying to sell a product, which leads onto my next point...

    3) Why am i annoyed what other people do with their money? well not so much with what you do with your money but what the results of all this "uninformed" (no offence) buying will lead to. It will lead to BlackBerry thinking that practices like these are OK now. And we will see a rise in such daft practices and that is something i do not want to see happening.

    4) Yes Apple do **** like this too. So? i thought Blackberry and BlackBerry users were better than this? so you are gonna use the argument "Apple does it, so whats your problem?". I dont want to indulge in the same practices that the Apple marketing machine churns out. Being blind sheep can be associated to any company. And yes, whatever company you blindly follow, adore, preach, on blind faith or "love" or dare i say it "fanboyism" is wrong. Yes, that is just my opinion, you can agree with it or not but its not a healthy consumer culture to indulge in. Buying and backing products on the back of a brand name alone and not on the back of the actual individual product itself is just wrong (in my opinion). Yes i know it happens everywhere but that doesnt make it right or OK.

I myself, in the last 10 years have gone from BlackBerry to Android to Iphone and now back to BlackBerry. Unlike most people (sadly), i am not "loyal" to any brand, why should i be? they dont pay me. I go to the place where the best products are at the time. That is all. I base my judgements and purchases on facts and actual products. Not just a brand name or some hocum pocum "loyal customer" malarky.

This was not a troll thread and i am glad at least a few people in this thread can see my point of view.

I would also like to point out that there are a couple spec points that are not finalised or official yet that directly effect user experience. Some of them being; we dont know the actual battery size or likely battery usage stats. We dont know what screen is going in this device, rumours are heavily centred around a 720x720 but some early hands on stating a screen "much sharper" than the Q10 with a supposed lower PPI is suspect, we dont really know what the screen specs are. We dont know officially if the track pad will be illuminated, rumours are that it will be but early hands on show no illumination. These are things that directly affect your experience with the device. We should absolutely know these facts before a purchase should be considered. Am i wrong?
OP quit worrying about other people's life and choices because I'm willing to bet that you have your own issues in life to deal with. Do you honestly think that you know better than those who are pre-ordering the Classic?

I guess some folks feel the need to "pre-order" but you know the price will drop way lower a few months down the road (2-3 should do it) so why pay top dollar to be the first on your block ? Most folks have an existing phone (some seem to have collections of phones all relatively new models for reasons I also don't understand) that would surely suffice until the next latest thing is a few months old. But it's their money so.........

So if understand well the SAR in Europe will be around 0.6-0.8 (GSM)
    correct?
It appears your understanding is inadequate. I recommend you ask your network provider which frequency bands are used by your service. Then go read-up on frequency band designations, and read the FCC reports to see if the relevant bands for European frequencies were even tested for North American approval. When you have done that also do a little research into the different SAR testing protocols and acceptance limits on each side of the ocean.

To make it easy for you... You can be sure that a device will not exceed statutory SAR limits for any territory where it is offered for sale.

People buy phones at launch simply because they get the pleasure of owning the just launched phone. It has a emotional value that is worth more than the cash depreciation it suffers after it.

It's like giving a birthday present to a friend, doesn't make sense because you're wasting money in something that you don't benefict with, you do it because the reward value is worth the money spent

Get over it. People are ordering it for the toolbelt, larger screen, and because it's an updated version of the 9900 and q10. Simple as that.

You don't get charged until the item has shipped and the there is no way in hell the specs will be any worse than the q10, most likely a slight upgrade in processor or a ram upgrade to 3.

Just so you know, there is a 30 day return policy. So if we decide we don't like it we're not stuck with it. And yes, I did pre-order it. I've wanted this phone ever since it was announced. You shouldn't make blanket statements that only take into account your opinion.

The OP has a right to their opinion (however over the top they word it), and the people who pre-order have every right to blindly spend their money as they wish.

Seriously what is wrong with you people?

There are NO specifications listed, there are NO final model release reviews, heck there aren't even any official previews. And yet you people are putting your money down without even knowing what you are buying? talk about blind sheep... and you people ***** on Android/Apple fanboys.... this is laughable.

Putting up an item for pre-order without even a spec sheet should be some sort of crime? surely? how is it even legal to sell something without even telling the customer what they are buying? It boggles my mind why people are supporting this move by BlackBerry, its absolutely disgusting and antics like these should not be encouraged at all. Let them release the full details of the product then make an informed choice about a purchase. Right now, you're all just buying blind like fanboy sheep. It's pathetic.

Wake up and have some dignity in your right as a consumer. Everyone should have the right to know exactly what they are buying. This is a basic consumer right. Stop supporting this move by BlackBerry.
Well we know that the specs won't be less than the Q10 so I would be good to go. Q10 is great for our business users who want a physical keyboard.
