Anyone know what screen technology is being used for the classic?

TFT as evidenced with all the screenshots using the light theme throughout the OS like the settings app.

Really? TFT?? Not even an IPS screen? That image is going to look like **** compared to every other phone on the market

The screen is not what bbos users are looking for to switch their devices. I'll buy it because of the toolbelt and because I want a professional device for work, not a portable entertaining center...

You guys know TFT is a broad term for most LCD displays and IPS is just a form of a TFT screen right?

Since the beginning of BB10, BlackBerry has used some impressive displays for all of their LCD devices including the Z10, Q5, Z3, and Passport. The picture has been sharp (maybe discount the Z3 for its low pixel density), high contrast ratio, and great viewing angles. What makes you think the Classic will be any less?

I personally own the Z10 (LCD) and Q10 (AMOLED) and the Z10's display is much better in my eyes. It might not be quite as good on battery or have the same deep blacks, but the color reproduction is more natural, it's brighter, and viewing angles are superior. Don't worry.

    582ppi and 1,7 Ghz?
The Classic is rated at 294ppi...roughly the same as the Z30. Though the Q10 has a higher 328ppi display, I've heard from users that the Classic appears sharper and brighter due to the LCD rather than AMOLED panel.

The Classic has used the same QC8960 as the Q10/Q5 in early revisions, but judging by the recent leaks, they seem to have transitioned to the QC8960AB and shares the same radio as the Z30/Z3 now. This could be just a change of radio, but I hope they're fully transitioned to the 1.7 GHz S4 Pro like the Z30. We'll see soon.

Pretty sure it's IPS... there's no reason to switch when all the other bb10 LCD are IPS.

Some of the responses nailed it in that I think some of you are confusing TFT with "TN" panels, which are inferior to IPS.

I think so too. Even the cheaper Q5 uses IPS and looks great. Apparently, the Z3 does too but I haven't seen it in person.

They talk about the screen here. They didn't say that the screen was worse than the Q10.

TFT would actually look better than the Q10's overly dimmed OLED screen.

That's totally false. Those specs have been going around for awhile. There's some evidence pointing to POSSIBLY having the same 1.7 GHz but that display is totally out of the question. The developer resources and simulator have stated 720x720 resolution for months. That's right from the horses mouth. If it were any different, they would have told us since we have to have our apps prepared before the launch of the Classic.

And all the other phones on the market can't handle being a "professional" device? Last I checked my iphone or android can do more than my BB for my job... I use my BB only for emails and calls.

Really? Like what? So far none of my friends can do anything with their Androids or iphones that I cannot do with my BB other than some apps that they can run...

Bb10 is more crippled than you thought. It's either you never use other Os or your love for BlackBerry is clouding your judgement.

Yes! They cannot admit it, so they deny, deny, deny!

BB10 is not refined as other popular OS's.

I've used them all. And more importantly, my friends who have used them as their daily drivers much longer than I have also never seem to use any feature that I don't have.

And there's all of these statements of facts, but not a single example yet. I did ask "like what?" didn't I? I am interested to know, I'm sure there are some, I just have never seen them USED in the real world before...

I don't have brand loyalty, I've only been using BlackBerry devices for the last 3 devices. And if you look at my PC upgrades, you'll also see I jump from brand to brand, it's whatever serves my needs the best. So far I haven't found a single feature that I need to use that my phone cannot do that other phones can...
