Exactly, landscape would be a great bonus on Q devices. Not for editing, but for other media software.

Btw, try iGrann. It can show instagram images on the full screen (hides the bars).

I made this to check sizes.. 3.5" 16:9 is horrendous, 3.5" with physical buttons and trackpad meh, as tall as the Z10 but wider..
But what if they made the buttons and trackpad within the touchscreen? I once tried an app for a virtual trackpad and it worked fine, and I'm sick of those buttons, we could get rid of them..
    What do you think?

I prefer the virtual belt.... It actually looks better than an actual physical trackpad and the 4 other buttons.

Not only does it solve the hardware failure issue (trackpad not working, etc), should they make it customisable so it can be brought up whenever and hidden just the same, it would be a massive addition to the Q10 version of BB10

I am not sold on the keys, I think virtual trackpad like the app in appworld when data entry, that's all people miss. Rolling select in 10.2.1 is great, similar thing for moving around content would be perfect

16:9 on a 3.5" display would mean it would be as tall as the Z30 and narrow. Almost as ugly as an iPhone with the Seacrest keyboard..
And if you turn your device into landscape mode.. how would you write? I'm sure it will be 1:1. Has to.

The fact that they're bringing back the trackpad + belt shows they don't want to innovate! This is a backwards A** step by BlackBerry and I'm extremely disappointed! CLEARLY people care more about screen size these days than how they navigate. Look at the touchscreen navigation of Android and iPhone in comparison to BB10 devices (touch or qwerty). SO much easier on a BB10, YET they decide to bring the belt back. This is definitely a step backwards in my opinion and for me, the device is DOA if it keeps the 1:1 ratio and is below 4inches. I currently have the Q10 and was looking forward to buying the "Q20/30" however not anymore! I guess Ill go for an all touch.

I'm just excited to see the 3 buttons on BB 10.. Here's the thing, If you want to go Full productivity, then a keyboard with a belt will be an amazing choice. On the other hand, if we need to do social media, and videos.. we have the full touch screens.

Although I hope BlackBerry would move their god damn logo from the middle to the top.

99% of the time it is hidden - no matter how you hold the phone.
It's on the back - you never see it when you hold the phone. So why do you care!? And even if you would see it - it's only a logo...

I don't think the Q10 looks dated. It was a sleek redesign of a classic product.
Adding the "tool belt" to the Q10 would date it horrendously.

I read the specs and the changes proposed look very good to me.
    3.5 inch screen.
    If you do the maths.
    Increase the pixel density to make a 720 x 720 3.1 inch square a more sensible 900
    Now add to hight. 900 x 3.5 / 3.1 = approx 1024
    1024 x 900
    Or
    900 tall by 800 wide
    Or maybe
    1220x 1080
    Or
    1156 x 1024
    Or
    868 x 768
Any of these will please me
    1024 x 900 would seem best.

All that's needed is a little more height for word suggestion of back button in android apps.

Now the track pad. I'm so happy that's coming back.
And buttons to answer and hang up.
Hopefully the BlackBerry logo will be removed from the front of the phone to make space without much change in phone size

Won't purchasers simply have a choice of Q10 all touch and keyboard and Q20 with trackpad and buttons? Honestly, I really like the Q10 but there are times that having a trackpad would make it even more useful, especially for using with one hand.

I have mixed emotions about this one. I'm all for a bigger screen on my Q, but I'd really rather have the 4" screen without the "toolbelt" keys as the Q30 concept images showed. The trackpad will be nice for selecting text, and the dedicated phone keys will (maybe) eliminate the argument over the "sideways vs. pull down to answer" swiping on the current phones, but...meh. I'm not nearly as excited for this one as I was for my Q10.

Of course I'll have to get one when it comes out. Sigh.

No one seems to understand the fact that the return of the 'BlackBerry Belt' is fairly simple. Trackpad will eventually act as a fingerprint sensor (for security and because everyone else is doing it) and the other four keys will replace that useless bottom software buttons we see on current BB10 devices...

Depends if they're going with the prototyped smaller 3-row keyboard to make way for the belt.

If they're doing that then they've completely lost the plot because without a "shift" key, the convenience of using the trackpad to copy and paste is completely lost.

    Posted via CB10
This is true. I need 4 rows of keyboard and a strip of function controls to remain happy.

I am thinking 1:1 .. I calculate a screen of 2.47 inch square vs 2.2 inch for the Q10. I think the device will be more square like and push the screen up. Think more square than the Q5 but certainly closer to the Q5 than a Q10 except that the KB will be Bold. My estimate then is for a device about the same width as a Nexus 5 but slightly shorter than a Z10 . Say 128 X 70 mm .

I note that Chen uses a Porsche phone and perhaps they might get some styling input from that design studio.

It will not be 16:9, if only due to the required length for the "belt".

BUT, it does kind of raise a tantalizing notion, because the same handset COULD possibly accommodate a 16:9 WITHOUT the belt.
