is this gap the normal ? please guys help me out...this thing annoys me a lot when I see all the dust getting accumulated in the gap...also the light bleed, especially on the left side of the toolbelt. I am also facing double typing issue...repeatedly with the letter E the most. what should I do... should I go to customer care? I am afraid of all the hassle i will have to go through and even after that who knows if they will replace it or just repair it.please advice me what I should be doing ? I see no problem in the functioning of the phone so far.

If it's a noticeable gap and collecting dust heavily then that is not normal. BlackBerry production line have been known to have poor quality controls. If it bothers you that much then warranty it.

Are these taken with a Bold 9900? How come the camera never focuses?

Lol. That's what I was thinking. I think they come out that way because OP is taking the photo in the dark and too close. The camera doesn't have time to focus when taken in the dark and too close to the subject.

The pics still are pretty bad however I think I at least get an idea about the gap being pretty bad too.

Nonetheless and as already stated in the other thread: If it really does bother you, and it seems so otherwise you wouldn't go through all the trouble trying to take photos and uploading them here, you should simply go ahead and get a replacement. Seriously you sound worried and disappointed regarding the build quality of your newly purchased device. You paid quite a bunch of money and if you aren't satisfied with what you got - change it, send it back and as for a replacement. Otherwise it'll bug you forever.

Though the photographs are not so clear, I feel If it is irking you as much, might as well get the device replaced.

The sooner, the better chances of the retailer providing a replacement device

guys...I am sorry if I have been bothering u....am new to CB and blackberry and I feel u guys are doing a commendable job of helping out eeach other...as many of u complained about blurry pics and not being able to give proper suggestions due to my pathetic auto focus cam of an old phone, here I tried to capture some fresh pics from my 3 mp tab cam...I feel these pics have come out lil beetter than those i posteed previously...so I request u once more to have a look at these pics and suggest me what I should be doing..I have matte screen guard on my screen..also I am facing double typing issue..esp with E the most.

Thanks for the new pics, I downloaded two of them and adjusted brightness a bit and I can now see the gap or rather "canyon" between screen and toolbelt. I would've sent the phone back before even booting in up, the space between screen and belt is just waaaay too large to be tolerated.

It looks like a manufacturing flaw. Try for replacement.

It still is hard to see to be honest, pictures are still blurry and I hope that screen protector didn't fool me. For comparison reasons, here is a picture of my Classic. Keep in mind there is a tempered glass protector installed. Also try doing the paper trick: If a (thicker) piece of paper fits easily between screen and toolbelt, the gap would be too large for most people. On my Classic this is only the case on the far right side right at the bezel.

thanks for posting the pic, yes I cant get the correct idea due to the tampered glass protector....am new to BB, till now I was not even aware that this gap should be considered a flaw though it used to bother me in dark as I could see the dust getting accumulated in there...but it's only after my E double typing issue getting worse is what compelled me to check the CB forums for this issue and that's when I cam across this gap thread..I have matte screen guard on whic is slightly abovee above the bottom of the screen..so that's the possiblity that the gap might seem larger than what it actually is...is there anyway we can upload the video? well I really am enjoying using my classic but and I don't want to go through all the hassle of getting it replaced and such procedures take forever in India so I don't know what I should be doing...I would definitely try the paper trick and report back....double typing is also getting worse by each passing day....is this a software issue ? can it get worse with time ?

no,its not as thick where a THICK paper can get it but I tried a thin paper and the paper could slide in at the left side where the gap or the raised screen feels more prominent compared to the right side and from this left side,i do see some..very lil light bleed at night which unfortunately my cam could not capture.
