So I recently purchased an unlocked Classic, but when I started it up it had t mobile WiFi calling app installed. Isn't this only present on the t mobile locked classic? Is it possible the phone recognized my T mobile sim on startup and installed the WiFi calling app?

What if I told you the app was always installed but only appears if you have a T-mobile SIM.

Is what you said true? I was looking at getting a classic through Amazon, but was worried it wouldn't get wi-fi calling since it wasn't TMO branded.

Where you buy it has nothing to do with it. It's controlled by your SIM and your OS. You should have it on your red Passport, though judging from your signature you're on a janky OS anyway that I think it was screwed up on.

I keep getting the REG99 error on my Passport. Looking to get a classic specifically for the wi-fi calling and texting. I didn't know if it needed to be the specific model for T-Mobile or not. Thanks for the info. I might be getting one of amazon this weekend.

It doesn't need to be a "branded" phone (if that's what you mean), but must have an OS that will allow WFC. And BTW... what if I told you the the app is NOT always installed on the phone. If you go on T-Mo network and have the right OS, it usually appears because WFC is activated. But still, a lot of people have to load it manually. It's on BBerry World. The REG99 usually means you have WFC, but something is amiss. Have you added you 911 address to your profile?

I have added the E911. I even called TMO and they said everything is good on their end. Apparently the next option would be to send me another sim. I thought all BlackBerry phones were capable of wifi calling and texting and that it was up to the carrier to enable it or not.

Well because of this thread I ordered a classic off of amazon. 176 for amazon warehouse deal with only the packaging messed up is too good to pass up.

Hopefully I can stick my sim in and gets wi fi calling! Thanks!

Hello everyone, got my Classic from amazon exclusively since it's the only BB10 phone officially supported by TMO at the time and I need to be able to use my phone 100% of the time. I've read that the latest software update release from BlackBerry breaks wifi calling.

Before I fired up my Classic, I stuck my sim card in so that it would register as a TMO classic. I think it worked since in BBW I get "T-Mobile Top Picks". I checked the software release that I have and it's Classic SQC100-4/10.3.1.2267. My question to this forum and anyone who may know the answer, should I update to this update or not??

Thanks. I'll try to get the update using Sachesi to get the WFC right.

OS version 10.3.2.2789, release 10.3.2.2514 is the latest for T Mobile that makes wifi calling work, but you need to be on a TMo sim and only certain OS versions are upgradeable... Check this link from TMo :

As an update to this thread, I updated to the latest update with WFC, SQC100-4/10.3.2.2789, via Sachesi.

With me admittedly not being a super techie BlackBerry user, I expected this to be a huge headache. Turned out to be as easy as hitting two buttons while having my phone on airplane mode with the sim removed.

WFC is working beautifully. I missed this wonderful feature. I can now take my BlackBerry to school where there is no signal but Wi-fi instead of leaving my phone in the car and connecting via a slow BlackBerry Blend connection.

As yet another update, this is what I really hate about BlackBerry. We have something so useful and it doesn't work 100% of the time.

It was working fine, and now it's been stuck like this for almost an hour.
