You must be referring to the Chrome tool.
Clicking on a link to an apk is surely easier anyway.

He wanted to remove it than reinstall it to see if that would solve the constant notification problem. Amazon a bar file not an apk file.

Amazon is an apk when downloaded directly.

Is it? Must be right!
I show
com.amazon.mShop.android
So can he delete and reinstall this file?
The problem was already solved before you got here. He downloaded the new apk from Amazon and installed it.
The file you refer to is a converted apk to bar file for inclusion in the BlackBerry software release.

The app is really a waste imo. Search for Amazon works so much better. We never needed the Android app.

Removing amazon app from BB 10
These instructions I have found on the forums. Method 2 worked fine on both my Passport and Classic.
Method 1
Download ccleaner from the amazon store delete the Amazon app buy clicking the menu in the upper left corner select App manager then select Amazon App and delete.
Or Download ghost commander from the appworld and select applications from the left pane and delete Amazon.
Both these methods seem to remove the apk but not the icon. Which should be good enough?
Method 2
I also found Darcys BB Tools and if you connect your BB I put mine in dev mode via the option under settings and Security and Privacy settings.
Once connected click on installed apps icon in the left hand column s and remove the two files at the top starting with com.amazon that show up in the right hand window
