Did some searching on this, but couldn't find an answer, which probably means the answer is no, but here goes anyways.

Does anyone know if there is a way on the Classic to create an icon shortcut that opens directly into the InPrivate browser? I use this browser exclusively as I don't like keeping browsing history on any device or machine that I use. It's a pain to have to go into the regular browser and then launch the InPrivate one each time.

And yes I know I can minimize the InPrivate one to keep it open. That defeats the purpose of not having any browser history and I'm not a fan of the way applications look on the main screen when they are minimized. I like the clean fresh sexy look of my wallpaper on that screen

I've tried everything I can think of, it has no URI Address (which Homescreen shortcuts use), it would have to be invoked from a Proper App

yea, too bad. I did find that if you click and hold on a link, you have the option of setting the private browser as the default when opening links.

Now that I think about it, I may be able to create a shortcut to something like google and have it open in the private browser by having set the above option. Going to test that out and report back

Pretty sure it won't work, it's another uri thing

yea you look to be right. i couldnt even add a shortcut from the private browser to the homescreen, could only do it from the regular browser.

i guess i can just keep a text or something with a link in it and use that to launch the browser each time. crude but effective

I could probably make an App that tries to invoke it, just need the target name

There you go, simply side load the .bar and enjoy, takes a second extra to open the Private Browser but is well worth it:

Wow dude, that is awesome that you would do that. Thanks a ton, for real. This is why the blackberry community is so awesome.

As soon as I get it loaded I'll report back how it works.

    Thanks again Paul!

Thanks for making this. Only request I have is to change the title to two words so it drops to a second line rather than fading off on the right. See screenshot below.

I also wouldn't mind a version for 10.2.1 to use on my two Q10s. I'm not upgrading them to 10.3.2 just yet.

I'll change it tomorrow night for you.

The Separate Private Browser was introduced in 10.3.2, though, so it wouldn't do anything on 10.2 :P

    Awesome private shortcut app, Paul!

One question: Does it have to open Google when started? I'm guessing the answer is yes, since a target url is required to invoke the browser. Any chance it could just invoke the "new tab" in the private browser window instead of Google?

Thanks again for a spiffy shortcut app.

Does the paid version of Custom Shortcuts have this feature?

Unfortunately not, you see that bar file is a tiny Application which invokes the Private Browser,
Custom Shortcuts uses the basic URI system which the Private Browser is not registered to.
