Not only will it be lit up in the final version but it will also illuminate in circles just like the spinning wheel when it s loading instead of on the actual screen. Pretty cool!

I think if they have the same illumination as the Bold 9900, that would be enough for me.

Huh? IDK but I'm wondering if the Classic's trackpad will be Bold style IR optical or possibly Passport style capacitive digitizer?? Bold's IR optical could occasionally have functional troubles in sunlight if scratched just right, in my experience. Capacitive tech might make trackpad even more reliable ... ???

I'd like it to double as a fingerprint reader (like Apple's home button) ... but that's about as likely as that spinning wheel

If they go the fingerprint reader route, I'd prefer on the side where the scroll wheel used to be. Just slide your thumb down, like you do on the Bloomberg B-Unit. Wouldn't need much surface area, just a thin reader/scanner you slick your thumb across.
That's a good idea but I worry it wouldn't be easy to pull off. If you are holding the phone one handed it would be hard to swipe. And if you hold it in the wrong hand your thumb will be on the wrong side. I still go for trackpad

I don't think it's a good idea to have a spinner animation on the trackpad. When I used my older BB's, my thumb was often over the trackpad when I was navigating around/waiting for things to load. I wouldn't even notice the spinner. It needs to be on the screen as the primary focus point when things are loading.

I doubt that it would be animated lighting. That would cost more and provides no benefit.

If the keyboard is going to be that interactive, I wonder if the keyboard will operate as the Passport one does. Going to search forums for that now.

End your searching here. The answer is no.

I sincerely hope they don't put a side swipe finger print reader. I have a similar reader on my HP Touch Smart, the reader is on the side of the notebook's screen. It is extremely frustrating to use it. I have to swipe it 4-5 times repeatedly to make it recognise, not to mention it is too slow. Swipe finger readers are bad idea on a mobile device.

Let's distinguish between low quality fingerprint readers (what you've experienced) and a high-quality one that requires a quick slick of the finger, and instantly the software unlocks. It would be faster than typing a combination of keys, even if it was "0000" or something super basic.

Unfortunately, the rush to "features" and not "quality" put really horrible quality fingerprint readers on laptops, making the general impression that fingerprint readers are hard to use, clumsy, require multiple swipes, require re-teaching the sensor as your fingerprint changes w/ dry skin, etc. A good fingerprint reader will avoid all of these issues and be painless. If that can be accomplished, I'm all in.
I never said finger reader is a bad idea. I never had good experience with SWIPE finger type readers. Where as press and hold finger print readers like Apple uses and the similar type ones used at immigration check points, or office doors are the more reliable instead of swiping finger over and over again.

I heard it's going to be the return of the squirlcle. Instead of just lighting up, it will show the squircle when processing anything.*

I 'heard' this, while booting, trackpad will light up similar to BB10 booting screen with BB logo and blue lighting starting from 0 degree to 360 degree.
