like you have to go through a few steps. In the older os's it was a simple search click and your good to go

How complicated can touching the contact be.
Yeah, I don't understand either. Just start typing the name and tap on the contact and tap to call. How is that any worse than on older bbos?
I think (hope) the OP is being facetious!
Z10 (STL 100-3) still on 10.2.1.3337
like when I search for particular name out of no where a facebook contact names comes. yes I've disabled the facebook contacts but it still shows

Cannot be easier man
Methinks the sour puss posters are out to make it look like there's lots of issues with the Classic and Passport when there isn't.
If they don't like clicking around use BlackBerry assistant voice command "call "friend of dip****"
Problem solved. There are no issues with this phone.

And who might this really be, dip****"
Precisely.
Classic cases of people don't RTFM. Even if we try to drive a different car or use a different brand of washing machine or heck, a different razor, it is important to read the user manual AND understand what are the features and functions available.
To OP, I don't need everything to come up when do a search from the phone . So I went into the search settings and un selected what I don't want it to show . Now , when I search from my BlackBerry, I don't see things irrelevant to me. El simplo..
I hope you too can do that and make your phone more productive.

when you search a contact and press call it goes into the phone application but it doesn't dial them so I have to search again in the phone application itself. I know it's a minor but it's a irritation. I hope they rectify this in future updates.

Did they change how search works in 10.3? On the Q10 I search a name tap it it opens the contact then I just tap the number. Boom phone call placed.
Posted via CB10
I just tried this based on how you described and it goes rite into the phone app and places a call if you select "call" from the menu on the right when you hold the contact, or if you open the contacts and select call home or call mobile, etc...
If you select BBM voice it goes rite into the BBM voice call screen.

I think they did on classic you search it takes you to phone app then you have to search again press the contact then it dials
Posted via CB10
Not sure why they would do that but I tried with passport and it seems to work fine. I guess I will have to wait for next update to see if they change it

What if you just use assistants and type "call [insert name]"? Isn't that much faster than searching contacts app?
Posted via CB10
I mean homescreen search the assistant one. if you hold it down it says view contact then call contact. why can't you just press it and it should dial automatically
Posted via CB10
Yes that's what am trying to say when you search using the assistant home search and tap on it it redirects to phone app then search again
Posted via CB10
Does the Classic support typing "call somebody" from the Home Screen - this works great on the Q10.
Posted via CB10
On the Hub scroll to last phone call made > press call button > Opens Phone app
I would like this to be fixed and want it to act as :
On the Hub scroll to last phone call made > press call button > dial the call
Posted via CB10
Just type "call (contact)" and it will give you the quick option to call that contact.
yes I discovered that now thank you

Are you on touch screen only phone?
One of the three reasons that I stayed with BB, is the Q10 key board because of the ease and quickness of calling a phone #. Esp. while driving.
There is also one touch speed dialing.
The other is the quick ability to search: swipe and start typing.
Im still thinking on getting this phone, but every time someone asks something so simple like contacts or to make a call there are steps!?!
Question, on my 9930 i just press the call key, and all my call list comes up, is this the same on the classic?? I dont have a lot of numbers saved on my contacts but with 2 presses im already dialing those
Does it work the same?
Thanks
BB10 is not BBOS and I feel people need to read up on BB10 first and approach it like they would if they was migrating to apple or android. Over time I feel Blackberry will add features and improvements, but that is going to take time. At this point I am just glad we got the classic because a tool belt BB10 device was not in Blackberry plans for BB10 devices.
