I prefer it on the side like the 9900 because when you're sat in bed at night and using the device whilst charging it strains the wire

I remedied this with a longer charger cord. The included one was about 2ft too short.

Agreed. The cord is ridiculously short, so I've been using my 9700's charger.

I initially thought perhaps the new cable was better quality and maybe supportive of faster data transfer. In tests moving video via USB, the stock cable was equal to my 6ft which is narrower in diameter.

I prefer the cable at the bottom. It's easier to hold the phone and type on it when the cable is at the bottom. Otherwise the cable would be pressing against my fingers, and typing would be awkward. That's one of the things I didn't like about the Q10.

I second that. I prefer charger port on the bottom too, so I don't stick my greasy finger into it while holding the phone

I feel the bottom charging port is excellent. You have proper placement while typing. On the Q10 or 99xx the charging wire will get in the way a lot....

I to also think the bottom charging port is better. I look forward to it when I finally get my hands on one.

I put the phone on the charging just like I did with the 9700/9900 so it's pretty much the same for me. I was more prone to bend the connections with the charging port on the side.

Yes, but depending on which carrier, it may have one of several different wireless charging types.

I use the playbook rapid charger with a 6 foot long cable. Works great. The only thing I don't like about the charger port on the bottom is that when driving my wife's truck (that doesn't have my proclip mount), I set the phone on the console for navigation. With the port on the bottom, I'll be forced to get some kind of mount so the bottom can remain available.

I just wish the usb and headphone ports were always on the same side. Both on top, both on side, whatever. Now it will be one cord out the bottom and one out the top. My cars only have aux ports - no bluetooth.

Buy a USB extender. Very cheap, very effective.

Also - I know it's a tad pricey, but the dock is awesome. Def worth it.

Clearly the only conceivable solution, and damn you BlackBerry for not just doing this, is put a charge port on all 4 sides, include 7 replaceable batteries in the box, and fully implement "Rubacharge," which allows you to gently stroke your BlackBerry back to full charge with a gentle caress. Whispering "I Love You" is no charge

Stupid BlackBerry engineers. They never ever think of the consumers!
