The Classic is made for the young bucks. Don't get me wrong, but his phone is made for the young bucks. I love the keyboard, but for my 48 year old eyes, it is not compatible for my aging eyes.

I want to give it a few more days, but the Z30 is more forgiving. I guess I have to realize I'm not 25 anymore.

I am 41 and have used all of them.
First, it is kinda hard to compare virtual kb with physical one, but I understand you as myself personally I can't use either of them without glasses.
I personally prefer Classic's kb over virtual. The feeling is so nice and the typing is fast and accurate.

I honestly don't even look at the printed keys on my keyboard when I type, after a while you just kind of know where they are and type away. The raised dot on the 'd' key gives my thumbs a reference point and my eyes are too busy looking at what I'm typing.

The default font size is adjustable as other people have pointed out, I really disagree with you that the 'Classic' was designed with a younger target audience in mind. BlackBerry have stated quite openly that the Classic was designed for legacy Bold / OS7 users who refused to upgrade to a touch-screen.

What other device is currently offered which is aimed at an older audience? I'm not trying to start an argument with you it's just that out of every phone currently available I would have thought that the 'Classic' (notice the name) was designed with older users in mind. I'm very curious to know what you will replace it with.

It's a phone designed for any enthusiast who are looking for productivity. There's no age factor or limits to what this phone can be used for.

If you find the screen and keys still too small then I suggest trying out the Passport which I absolutely love.

True that. I am 40 and change the phone to font 5 on the classic and on the passport. I think lately I've been feeling it though, a few times I had to squint, I may have to change to font size 6 soon but most people can't read it not just old people.

I am 45 and find that the LCD screen on the Classic to be quite good for reading. Better than amoled screens. OP, are you using the Reader mode when u r reading Web articles? I have not had problems reading emails etc on my phone and when I hand my phone to others to read texts etc, they have been fine with it too.

Yea, I do use the reader function. I was mainly pertaining to apps like FB.

i'm 63 years young with the most horrible eye sight.....I use the passport with font size at 9...I have had the 8800, bold 9000, torch 9800 and z10....the passport is the best.....easy to read...easy to use....I am truly spoiled and not feeling like a blind guy ......lol

You're going to have to use reading glasses eventually. One of the benefits of slab phone is that you can quickly turn to landscape and the text will automatically enlarge. It beats having to grab your reading glasses just to read a text message.

It's interesting that BlackBerry's current hardware strategy aims the keyboard phones at the traditional older users who didn't grow up with virtual keyboards and the slab phones at younger users who have always used virtual keyboards. One has to wonder whether the vertical slider will solve the problem as one will still be typing in portrait mode with the need to read what you are typing.

Have you tried the pinch to zoom...very helpful for reading in-bound emails especially when walking in the street. I don't think it works when you are creating an email but very useful for reading on the fly.
