It felt like forever getting this phone since preodering back in November and shopbb's incompetent abilities to fulfill them.
My first impression of the phone was "holy moly, this phone is heavy!" Coming from a Q10 the classic feels like a brick. The weight makes the phone feels solid and premium. The phone's size is substantially bigger than the Q10. I had to alter the way I hold my phone because if I flicked it around like I did with the Q10 it would probably fly out of my hands and knock someone out.
The screen LCD screen is great. It's brighter and the pixels are imperceptible.
The keyboard is the best one yet. Yes, even better than the 9900, Q10, or the Passport.
The trackpad works as expected. I've been using BB10 for over a year and the toolbelt actually feels awkward to use. When I first got the Q10 I would sometime try to tap the imaginary toolbelt keys and trackpad. Ironically, with the classic I find myself skipping right over it. I have to remind myself that it's there. I had a couple of phone calls and I kept tapping the screen to end it and totally forgot about the physical END key.
The camera is on par with the Q10. So there's nothing I saw that I would perceive that is different.
The phone's performance is equal to that of the q10, if not then slightly smoother, but that's just my opinion.
The big question for me is which phone is ultimately best for me? Q10, Classic, or Passport?
I'm an IT professional with an active lifestyle. I run about 15-20 miles a week, I coach a high school track team, I have a son with a second one on the way, I run a weekend flag football league, and I'm the VP of my HOA. All these hobbies and responsibilities require constant communication and access to information all while I'm on the go. Hopefully in a few weeks I will know which BlackBerry phone is the one for me, and hopefully it'll help others who are on the fence about which one to get.
Stay tuned.
