As infrequently as possible -- maybe 1-2 per month in practice.

I do it once a week or after an software update.

Until now it was not necessary, but I think it's not wrong to do it so.

So, in the last 5 days my phone has restarted twice on it's own. Prior to that it'd been just fine. The only active frames I had running were Weather, Music, Browser(1 tab) and iHeartRadio. Kinda frustrating.

How does it happen? Does it happen while being left alone on a desk for instance or in your pocket?

I forget how it happened the first time, but today I was listening to a radio station, had paused the station, the screen was still on, I set the phone face up on my couch, looked away from it, and when I looked back I saw the white "Blackberry" logo in front of a black screen indicating it had just rebooted. The only button I'd pressed was the Assistant/pause button and I didn't even press the power/lock button to turn of the screen, I simply set it on it's back, awake. Very odd.

Not as often as it restarts itself. Every month or so my z10 will have a few days where it just randomly reboots. It will do it once or twice in a few days.

My Verizon Classic has to be restarted every 2-4 days because text messages eventually get stuck sending. I suspect it's because I am not in good reception and between all of the network switching and the home extender next door to me that connects once in a while it probably gets confused...
Can I ask if this is still an issue?

I have a brand new Verizon Classic and yesterday I had three texts to my girlfriend get stuck. I called Verizon and they think it might be the SIM, but like you, I am also in a low coverage area (I get 1 to 2 bars.)

Now days, having the classic for 5 months, I re-start one a week.

Sometimes just to make my self feel good. But I had a freeze up on a customer sales call, I felt helpless.

My wife and I restart our BlackBerry devices every night when plugging it in. I have a Z30, and she has a Classic.

Never, my Classic restarts itself in my pocket due the bad design of the power key....

I like to re-start my Classic once every 2 weeks or so, or when I notice performance lagging ever so slightly. I've gone over a month not re-booting before, but my rule of thumb is once every 2 weeks just to clean stuff up.

Fairly often, especially after 10.3.2. My input method service would shoot up to use like 400MB+ and everything goes to slow as molasses and starts acting weird (e.g. randomly pausing songs, browser stuck with blank pages after fully loading, etc.)

Admittedly I do make the battery totally drain every 2 weeks.

I have lived a maximum of 20 days on 10.3.1 without having to reboot. After that, I've been installing 10.3.2 leaks on and off due to which the phone had to be restarted every time.

Now that we've got the official 10.3.2, I'd like to see how long the phone can live without re booting.

I don't have reboot. My passport randomly does it for me. Probably once a day I noticed via the shaded out active frames the phone has been rebooted.

If passport which has 3 GB ram restarts due to lack of available memory, there is definitely something wrong?

Are you using too heavy (memory consuming) apps / games?

I have the exact same question! I'm always wondering would it be a good idea to restart your phone regularly? And if so how often would be just right?

The only time I have restarted my Classic is after I load a leak and it restarts on its own... I never restart it and there's no need for it with BB10.

Everytime I get in my car and shift my weight.
With screen off: booty touch the answer call button while locked turns the screen oon, and booty touching the "hang up" button turns it off.

On purpose: once every few days. But accidentally, atleast 2 times a day.

That and double typing are my only issues.

Some do and some don't. Personally, I have yet to meet a computer that doesn't benefit from the refresh a restart provides. I've applied that to my phone as well.
For my phone I check the system CPU usage to help me determine when a restart might be needed. When it is not needed it hovers between 4-6 %. If I see it constantly at 8 or above, spiking to the teens or above, I do a restart as this is when I start noticing increased battery consumption or a little sluggishness.
Long story short, restarting can't hurt and more than likely will help. Restarting when you put it on charge for the night is a nice way to have it done and not inconvenience you.

    The choice is yours.

I almost never restart my PC. Just put it to sleep every night... And I'm a gamer, with Witcher 3 on all ultra settings, so if there was any slow downs or sluggishness, I would have noticed, but haven't noticed any yet. The idea is to keep your machine clean, don't have a million processes running in the background...
