It's not working like the old system.
The new system : pull down the tab from the clock it goes into bedside mode and all the radio turn off.

You cannot power it off. Even the old system it was kind of the same. It was turning all radio off and the phone was sleeping
I think it is the same thing just a different way of doing it

Personally I don't power off any "modern" smartphone ever since the last three years. Turn on airplane mode and quickly disable all connections like Bluetooth or GPS. Your device usually shouldn't consume much power now. At least not significantly more than having it turned off. Vice versa it draws a lot of power during the booting process.
Also, in my experience, a modern device shouldn't need the daily reboot. My Q10 stayed without a reboot for about ten weeks as the longest, my Classic hasn't been rebooted for a single week already.

Ah, I had the same question - thanks, both, for the advice. That's fair enough I suppose.

(And "Taigatrommel" is an excellent user name!!)

For not booting the phone ever I have to disagree with that.
Eg: I was driving in Iowa United States yesterday and I went to a dead zone which my phone lost all radio. When I drove to a big city my phone was still showing no radio contact whatsoever until I rebooted the phone. And that was with my Z

I don't think bedside mode in BB10 turns all radios off. It merely disables all notifications, such as LED or ringtones.

By default, all of your notifications are set to silent in bedside mode, and your wireless connections stay turned on. When in bedside mode, you can choose to hear only phone calls, or you can choose to turn off all wireless connections.

It's in the clock settings to activate that feature
