    Dear All

    I just bought a classic - but the speaker does not appear to be working.

    I normally don't use the BB for entertainment so I didn't notice - until I tried the speakerphone. Nothing came out.

    I don't think it has anything to do with BeBuzz? I tried to close BeBuzz to avoid any issues - but still no sound.

    I tried BBVE, audio test - nothing came out.

    I truly hope this is not a hardware issue.

    Anyone could help? Thanks!

    You may have to reload the device's OS. The following procedure will delete all data and applications on the BlackBerry device. If possible, back up the data prior to performing the procedure. For information on how to back up data from the BlackBerry 10 smartphone, please go to this link. Before proceeding, download and install (or update to) the latest version of BlackBerry Link found at BlackBerry Link - BlackBerry 10 Smartphone to Computer Sync - US.


    1. Open BlackBerry Link.
    2. Ensure the computer is connected to the Internet.
    3. Power off the BlackBerry 10 smartphone.
    4. Connect the device to the computer via the USB cable.
    5. Under the Devices heading, click the device name when it is displayed.
    6. Click Preferences at the top-right.
    7. On the left, click Reload Device Software.
    8. Click the Reload button.
    9. Click OK to confirm.

    If this doesn't solve your problem then I suggest you bring it back to your retailer/carrier and ask for a replacement.

    Thanks. Unfortunately it didn't help. It doesn't help that the headphones work. Hmmm.

    In that case, send it back and ask for a exchange.

    When reloading the OS or simple reboots don't fix the problem, it usually is hardware related. I fear you have to exchange the device.

    Thanks guys. Just want to report back - suddenly today I received a call and wow suddenly the speaker came to life!

    This is just very weird - more observation required - I surely hope it is not some hardware problem...

    that's my current problem now...

    i lost the "sound" of my speaker again...
    twice now it has happened...

    the first time i was able to just plug and unplug the headset and suddenly it worked again...
    but now... that option is not working...

    I'm afraid to reboot my OS...
    since I can't easily have my phone replaced since I bought it on a trip abroad
    and not here in the Philippines...

    don't even know if there is a blackberry repair center here in Manila?
