Pause is usually the letter "p" and "Wait is usually "w", try entering those in the dial string.
On my Q10, pause is comma, which is the N key. So if p doesn't work, try whichever key is mapped to comma.
Don't know if this helps, I don't really understand it, but hopefully it will aid you.
