I'm open to using a Hotspot or bluetooth tethering. I'm also open to using the device NFC or a separate NFC sticker tag.

I want to tap the back of my classic to the back of my nexus 7 2013 and have that automatically engage Internet sharing between my two devices.

Both devices have nfc built in. Any ideas?

It's not possible to just "tap" the two devices and automatically start the hot spot between the two like you would sharing a photo with nfc. As the previous poster said just toggle on the hot spot and it will automatically pick it up

I guess my thought process is that I could keep WiFi off on the tablet and the tap would turn on the WiFi on the tablet and the Hotspot on the device.

Well, maybe add one extra step to it, you can have a nfc keychain perform one of the functions for one of the devices and just toggle on for the other. Whichever would be easier.
