My Classic is set to lock after 15 minutes, so no one can get "into" my phone, however, anyone who happens by my unattended phone can simply tap it active and then tap a message type (email, text, BBM) that has a red star, and they can read a few lines of any unread messages. How can I deactivate that so I cannot read any new notifications unless I enter my password?
You can turn off instant previews or enable show sender only to just have the name of the person that sent you the message. Notifications-lock screen settings-show sender only

Go to settings > notifications > Lock screen settings > and turn off "Lock Screen Notifications".
Thanks, so it shows the sender's name only now. Not perfect, but better. Is there a way to not even show the sender's name?
I think if you turn off interactive notifications in lock screen settings, it will disable that feature.

Go to settings/security&privacy/turn off lockscreen notifications
It's a misleading way to word it. It doesn't totally turn them off. It's actually better because it simply shows the icon with no info. Only the icon and the red dot.
