I keep seeing posts that seem to assume that the specs will be the same as the q10 but I thought we still didn't knowledge for sure. Hopefully it will still be the z30 specs.
    Or have I missed something?

I thought it will be a 4000mAh battery?? Most of the classic BlackBerry phones can last for at least 3 days.. to qualify for this, the new classic should be as the same or on par with the old classic line such as the bold series. Long lasting battery life.

Explain to me how a smaller device can carry a battery bigger than the larger device that is the Passport

Well, I'm not sure how will a 4000mAh battery size will look like as you described. But if it is a thicker device, it could possibly be a 4000mAh with the current size of the classic phone.

The biggest battery tested was 3250mAh, making it around 11mm in device thickness.

With OS optimization, solid hardware, the device powers through for sure -- even with just a 2515. Can get easily the same usage out of it as a Z30 - which we all know can last.

I would have paid a little more to have that 3,250mAh battery. I don't mind if it's 11mm in thickness. Rather have a phone I can use when I'm travelling through airports that lasts the whole trip.

But alas I still like the look of it and 2,515mAh isn't exactly small

I think you pretty much nailed it.

The only thing I wonder is if those dimensions are for the Verizon and/or models with Qi only. I've seen 9.8mm thickness out there too, which may be the dimensions for the non-Qi model.

Technically, it hasn't. Most of the leaks and/or spotted specsheets from some pre-order sites have shown 1.5GHz though.

I used to be under the impression the Classic was using the same internals as the Z30 since the radio was reverted to the 8960AB with the Z30 rather than Q10/Q5. But it's starting to appear that ONLY the radio was switched and the cpu/gpu will be the same as the Q10/Q5. (improved reception?)

We'll see in a week or so.

My only concern is with these specs will the classic's hardware be able to keep up with future software upgrades (10.4.xxx or higher).

I don't see BlackBerry releasing a phone, only to drop support shortly after. Besides the ordeal with the PlayBook, I think QNX is pretty scalable and they've been doing good work getting 10.3.1 running smoothly even on the Z10/Q10. I haven't seen any sign of slowdowns.

I'm actually glad that the specs are similar to the 1st Gen BB10 devices. This means that could and should support all their BB10 devices for years to come.

My concern is these specs will be able to keep up with future Android apps. Is it normal for BlackBerry to leave the official release of the specs this late?

Yes, really. People are just a bit weirded out by it because they're holding out hope the leaked specs aren't right and this device has technically been awaiting release FOREVER. But generally, the full specs announcement FROM BlackBerry directly generally doesn't come until reviews are out. People are just used to seeing 'official' leaked spec sheets with pretty pictures and marketing jargon. There hasn't been one of those put out. Just everyone saying 'Here are the specs' with no pics or anything, just text lol. The only thing I can see left to confirm is what the graphics are on the device. Adreno 200/300. It's the difference between Q10 specs and Z30 specs.

Glad I got in on the z30 at $225.....which is a pretty great deal compared to the somewhat questionable pricing of the classic.

    Yeah, and I'm betting it's the 225 like the Q10. :/

I'd love to be surprised and see the 320 though.

I sort of regret passing on that. I think I would like the classic but I am unsure of the specs/price ratio. May wait until it comes down.

But my z10, other than the maddening battery is still working well.

I'm thinking the same thing, unless At&t offers it super cheap on contract I guess I wouldn't mind spreading the payments out.

Z30 is a really great device though if you can pick one up cheap in the meantime.
