And why would I waste my time choosing songs if I already have the songs I like in my collection? Not to mention, no streaming service will have audio quality that matches my flac files. I fail to see ANY reason to use spotify or any other music streaming service. Of course that's for me, others are not like me and these services work for them.

But for you, if you really value snapchat, spotify, and other android apps, why wouldn't you want an Android device? Unless you really want a physical keyboard...

If it works for you, great. I have every type of music that I like in my music collection, which is on my phone's sd card, so also right in the palm of my hands. Every streaming service I've tried always has more songs I dislike than those I like, so I've personally stopped using them. Sick of having to skip 5 songs to find one I like, and it takes too long to try to manually pick out the ones I like for the station to remember...

As has been said, it may not be perfect for everyone's usage case. But for someone who wants to listen to whatever they want, whenever they want, it can be pretty great. No need to spend $7 to $10 buying an individual album, when you can download that album for offline listening, or stream that album one day, stream a different album the next, and again and again, all month... For one monthly fee. You're never limited to what you liked and purchased in the past. Maybe you're on the lake and want some current popular party music that you don't own. Stream it. Maybe you're hanging out with some girls who don't share interest in the music you have in your collection. Stream something they like. Maybe youre alone in the car and you're in a weird mood for music you wouldn't be caught dead owning/buying, like Taylor Swift, Katy Perry, Justin Bieber, or Miley Cyrus or something... Indulge that dirty little secret and stream it.

Music services offer such a wide range of benefits for someone who listens to a lot of music. If you just listen to the same stuff in your collection over and over, and maybe buy a few albums a year, then streaming services don't make much sense. If you buy at least an album a month, streaming services are a pretty good bargain. $10 a month on one album? Or $10 a month to access a library of thousands and thousands of albums at any time.

I personally spend the same amount of time compiling playlists on Apple Music as I would making playlists out of my own library. But with Apple Music, I'm not limited to only what I own.

What does it provide that normal texting doesn't?

The one two, or three posts that commented on SnapChat in an extreme negative manner are ridiculous. I get it general perception is SnapChat is the land of nudes. General perception is also BlackBerry is dead, or doesn't make good up to date phones. Is that true? I get it some of the posters here are over 30 or 40 and haven't used SnapChat or care to, but to bash the use of it because YOU don't need it is incredibly wrong. Just as wrong as the people who sit there and make fun of BlackBerry in which all of you hardcore BlackBerry defenders jump out and defend your brand of choice. And to the honest, I wanna say about, maybe more than half of those who poke at BlackBerry have never even used one of the newer phones, but yet they feel like they have this knowledge.

There's a generation gap here, and there are users like myself who are apart of the younger crowd who value apps like SnapChat, personally it doesn't outweigh the PKB, but to others it might. It's a communication tool just like BBM was/is.

Do some of you people think **** pictures and girls photos never existed? Like they've never been sent through BBM before? Or Texts? SnapChat is a communication application, just the rest of them, not this hell filled with nudes left and right. You ever think in today's world that SnapChat is a great tool to build your brand? Like Twitter/FaceBook/Instagram? Or its a tool to meet new people? Or share moments with new and old friends?

This poor reputation you speak of, is exactly why SnapChat cut out unofficial 3rd party clients like the ones used on BB10. It was unofficial 3rd party clients poor security that led to the "SnapChat hacks" all over the media, and SnapChat knew the average person would blame SnapChat rather than the 3rd party provider... so they began cracking down on 3rd party clients and banning accounts using them.

Again, I have none of those desires. I don't care about what is "currently popular." I only care about what *I* like. What others like is their business, not mine, popularity and how new it is makes absolutely no difference for me. And also in your example, you better hope you have reception out on that lake...

And paying monthly would be worse FOR ME (gotta keep reminding you I'm talking about me and not about you or others who may benefit from it) since I don't like enough new songs every month to benefit from that. I would be spending the monthly fee to get maybe one new song a month. Sometimes several months go by before I hear a new song I actually like enough to want to add to my collection. Like I've said, I'm really picky about my music, do not like needing to depend on having data coverage, and I prefer lossless audio quality formats, something you can't get in streaming services.

And about snapchat, I have no need for time limited messaging at all. I don't send or say anything that cannot be kept on the record, I don't care for wasting my time getting pics of random skanks or any other uses of it. *I* simply do not have any use for it. Good for you if it provides you with services you cannot live without.

Edit: And just to clarify, that's not to say I never have anything to say to anyone that I'd rather not be repeated. I simply do not do that over a text message. If I have something confidential to speak to someone about, I'll say it in person. Snapchat isn't secure enough for those uses, you can find ways to record those conversations. So the only real use for them is for the less important things that you might want that low-level privacy for, which means simple issues of dishonesty, which I have no use for.

I always have problems trying to open Spotify on my Classic. If you compare it to how fast and fluent Spotify is on other phones such as an iPhone or Android you'll see you're missing out on a lot of speed. I understand Blackberry is way behind on apps. And I also understand that Blackberry is made for business people mostly. I love the keyboard and the operating system. But I'm tired of it always being so limited. If you guys are making fun of Apple for being limited it makes no sense. Because at least they have a good app foundation and does everything else fluently. I'm not trying to bash on Blackberry, Of course not. I've been a BB fan for years now. It's just that it's the truth.

it's all personal preference, honestly. Spotify opens in under 4 seconds on my Classic with no issues. I don't need it to open any faster. I'll never bash Apple, except on one topic and it isn't performance. It's itunes. I love music and the iphone ease of use for having a lot of music with me all the time. Itunes is hands down the worst product apple ever invented, in my opinion. It never worked right from day one. I even have a iMac so windows wasn't the issue.

I need help people. I don't know if it's me or everyone is starting to feel this way but I'm getting tired of my blackberry not having an app that I use a lot which is snapchat. I hate having to carry two phones. Another thing is that sure amazon provides a lot of more apps to the blackberry but the apps are so freaking slow. For example the spotify app is another app that I use a lot on a daily basis. But it's soooo slow to load up my playlists and sometimes doesn't even load which leads me to have to open and close the app 4-5 times till it loads each taking about 30 seconds to 1 minute to know if it loaded or not since when it does load it takes forever. Even if I have the music downloaded it takes forever. I understand on the passport it virtually takes no time to open but classic has **** specs compared to passport specs. I love the os and keyboard of my blackberry. I don't want to get rid of it because i've been a blackberry fan for so long and I love the keyboard but I'm tired of the blackberries being so far behind compared to other phones. In the exception of the passport. The battery is supposed to be 2500 mAh but my phone dies so freaking fast. I'm talking about it being at 50% after 2 hours of non-stop use. Is that stupid or what? I'm leaning towards getting an iPhone. Am I doing something wrong is this just the harsh reality? Your opinions would be highly appreciated.

I thought when you decided to go with the Classic you already knew all the pros and cons of it... I mean you do know that it's not going to be like an iPhone with tons of free apps, and even though you can actually doenload and install Android apps, those apps are going to be sluggish and slow right? About the battery problem I hear it probably because of the android sluggish apps you installed kn your Classic that eating up the battery

Not everyone has the hundreds of thousands of songs in their collection that they may want to listen to at any given moment. Services like Spotify and Apple Music are nice because you can chose to listen to anything in their catalog at any time. Maybe I want to listen to some old '80s and '90s jams I had on cassette and CD that didn't survive in to my current collection of CDs and digital music... Well, I can just stream them from my music service. Maybe I'm in a country music mood... A music genre I've rarely spent money buying albums from. Well, I can just stream it from my music service.

Also, music services largely aren't for audiophiles. Most people are using the earbuds that came packaged with their device, and lossless audio formats aren't really going to matter with junk earbuds plugged straight in to your mobile with no amplification etc etc etc.
    So true!

By far one of the best articulated sentiment similar to mine.

And mind you I can't bash Apple cause I'm an Apple fanboy (I've practically horded a collection of Apple products except the latest models - ended with 5s too which I used for a month I think).

I currently use the 27" iMac, Macbook Pro, iPod touch in car, iPad Retina and iPad mini, and a spare iphone 5s in another car used for music). Apple TV isn't supported well here so I don't have it. But when it comes to phones I use a Note 4 as main backup and BlackBerry Classic as main driver. The Classic just gets things done - period. My flirtation with any iphone since the first one came out lasts only about 2-3 weeks of installing and deleting but gets boring real fast.

Seriously, how many of you keep installing and uninstalling apps on your phone? Reasonably like once or twice a month after all the novelty wears off right?

Just my thoughts. And oh, I find Android not "tight" feeling enough just yet. Feels like Windows at some point, user-feel wise (like Windows ME or something). Too many hits and misses on apps on my Note 4. Only really caught my fancy for about a week. But the screen real estate is gorgeous though.

    Cheers!

I could probably posit an analogy:

About more than a decade ago I bought my first Mercedes E Class. This was back when all the rave was those Honda and Nissan "sports" cars. Most of my friends (well, most of them weren't of my profession too), got them.

All blinged-out they probably cost the same or more in total to my stock E Class. Similarly, there really wasn't much aftermarket add-ons to my car (and any customization would've cost a fortune I couldn't afford anymore as well).

But my car felt tight. It assured me of being able to deliver the exact expectations I demand of it upon purchase - comfort, ease of use, safety, getting from point A to B with a higher level of travel confidence, aesthetics, etc.

And yes, if I were to be challenged to a drag race or asked to compete in a car show, my *** would easily get whipped.

But then again, that wasn't really my "thang".

So back to your conundrum, what IS your "thang"? Only then can you possibly decide with confidence.

    Cheers!

Ignoring Android ports because no IT department worth its money would allow you to use the Android runtime?
    The list is long.

Business apps (mostly custom made, but there were some standard ones as well) were the reason why my company (and quite a lot of others) switched away from BlackBerries.
iPhones and Androids simply make our employees more productive.

Go into settings. Click on app mgr. You'll be able to see whst is running in background. Additionally, try a shutdown and restart by pressing the up and down volume buttons at the same time. When Classic restarts it may clear up the lag you are experiencing, and the battery issue.
