I am thinking about purchasing a classic. I have had BB10 before and really miss the smaller phone with keyboard. I don't use a lot of apps and I know WhatsApp is going away maybe at the end of June. My question is about side loading. Is it easier now to side load and if whatsapp goes away can't we still side load it? Really that is the only application I need for work. Thanks for any information.

Just ordered another Classic of Ebay due to arrive tomorrow. Out of all my other BlackBerry phones it is my go to phone.

I haven't sideloaded in years, now I just use Cobalts Playstore which has Whatsapp I have no idea if it works or not, I'm not a WhatsApp user.

The big question for you is "will the Android version of Whatsapp still work after June 30th". Complete crap-shoot. It may be that Whatsapp will disable past versions at their servers.

Maybe hold off until you know for sure.

Android WhatsApp kinda works on Classic. it happened with me that i sometimes would only get messages when entering the app...

in the end i re-installed the bb10 version. It is a backup-solution, but has it drawbacks. As was pointed out it will be interesting to see if even the Android wa version will work on a bb10 device.

Whatsapp is extended till the end of 2017.
Classic is not small. The small one would be Q10, sans the tool belt.

A apps you could install from F-Droid. Other stuff from Apkmirror eg. Download the file, click and it will install.

In case you want google play services, just check Conite's post on how to do that.
