Is anyone else disappointed that BlackBerry is not using the glass weave carbon fiber for the back housing of their phones anymore?

The z30 is a glass weave backing! I always remember the first time I held the back of my 9930 to light and saw the holes. Super cool!

I am. I've gotten used to it on my Passport, but I loved it on my Z30 and black Q10, and even the touch of it on the 9900's battery door.

I think they should have incorporated it into the Classic design, because as it is now, the Classic looks more Curve-like from the back than the higher end Bolds and Q10.

Same here. I would've loved the same back as my 9900! It just feels right in my hand.

Also the black glass weave on my black Q10 is a lot "grippier" than the back cover on the SE Q10?

Wait, so what are you disappointed about, that it wouldn't have glass weave or carbon fiber?

Same here, I love the glassweave--it sticks to my fingers. But we'll see how nice the Classic back is in due time.

Personally, I kinda like the rubbery back of the Z10: nice grip, no smudge, etc. Glad the Classic has it too...

I love the glassweave and am sad to see it go. Regardless, BlackBerry phones still look amazing.

I use a case, so the material of the backing does not bother me. Lol

Nope. Not disappointed at all. Glass weave looks alright with smaller phones (Q10) and the Classic may have been able to pull it off but I think it lessens the appeal of larger phones. I did not find it attractive on the Z30 and think it would have looked awful on the Passport. I'm so glad my Passport has a simple, black finish.

I went from my black Z10 to a white Z30, so I've never really experienced the glass weave before. The design of it was kinda there on my old 9900 but wasn't real carbon weave.

With that said I love the back of my passport. Feels exactly like my PlayBook did, and looks great

While aesthetically pleasing, the glass weave is slippery. I use a thin rubber condom case for grip. I like that much more, and it looks like the Classic will have that material natively. The black Q10 was the weave but the white one had the grippy rubber coating. Go grippy rubber!!

No never liked the glass weave on 9900 slippery fingerprint magnet and how many more threads like this are necessary besides its to late to change them now .

The feel of it has nothing to do with the glass weave. That is another coating of elastomer plastic altogether. The glass weave is embedded in a lay up process. Anyways, I do miss the look. I haven't held a Classic so I have no idea the difference in the feel.

The glass weave on the 9900 is NOTHING at all like it is on the Z30 and Q10... When we talk about glass weave, trust me, nobody is talking about the 9900...

I always wondered why so many people compared the 9900's back to the Z30's and the Q10's. Yes they might call all these backs 'glass weave', but in fact they felt totally different. I personally never liked the Q10/Z30 back versions a lot, yes they gave good grip, but to me, they always felt like dust & dirt & germ magnets, which I found disgusting (probably not justified, but that's how it felt to me). My favourite BB10 device back always was the Z10's, so hearing that the Classic's might feel similar makes me happy.

It doesn't matter what the material is as long as it is grippy and feels good in hand.

The glass weave was an awesome look. Signature BlackBerry and very useful. Strong, light, relatively attractive (certainly so in comparison to the Passport's horrible rubber backplate). It was actually amazing while it lasted. Such a shame.

Remember that custom leather back Kevin had, I think on a 9900. That was not nice.
