Do we have any idea to what the dimensions of this might be?
context - I have a 9790 and the width is ideal....don't want wider, would this work?

It will DEFINITELY be wider than the 9790 I'm afraid to inform you.

I personally don't mind but don't be hoping it'll be that narrow!

So basically there's no natural progression for the 9790 user?

Not at this time as far as I'm aware. I had a 9790 and loved it, so it would be nice to see something like that eventually. But I'd be really surprised if that happened.

Try the 99 . You'll notice how much of a natural progression it really is. If you wish to try BlackBerry 10, the Q10 will be great and the Classic even greater if you really need the trackpad.

hmm, thanks for your comments - at the end of the day anything bigger than the 9790 just feels too big (says me, my partner, a friend who also has a 9790, etc).
i thought the 9790 and 9900 were among BlackBerry's best selling phones...and now alienated.
Perhaps we can see what the issue is...IMHO.

Agreed. You'd think that someone at bbry would be looking at their own sales numbers. Go figure. That size will make it a test drive only proposition.

Chen's hands certainly don't appear to be any larger than mine so maybe there's hope, someday, for a reasonably sized upgrade path from our aging workhorses. Maybe the Q40? Or, lol, a diminutively sized Q2? That'd be "too cute"... Lol. Ok, so much for comedy...

    you are soooooo right.

I am also a 9790 user and I like very much the size

I really wanted to upgrade to Blackberry 10, therefore I tried Q10 but, yes...its too big

Now I was hoping that Blackberry Classic is the best solution but after seeing this chart of the sizes you posted....its way too big

We really need BB10 on a normal size

Classic reputed to be: Hardware Dimensions (LxWxD): 131 x 72.4 x 10.2 mm

    9790 - 110 x 60 x 11.4 mm (4.33 x 2.36 x 0.45 in)

There is absolutely, definitely no market for a small Physical Keyboard device that would be running with a 2.4 inch screen except as some sort of sub $100 feature phone. Actually, I am not even sure that there is a market for even a 4 inch all touch device except for those who want to buy a cheap Nokia or an existing iPhone 5.

I think the best alternative is the Q10 or Q5. Not sure how reliable either device is. All you can do is stock up on some older BlackBerry phones on the used market.

If BlackBerry had been smart they would never gone to a 1:1 screen. It would then have been possible to make a smaller device with a larger screen.

Finally, screen sizes in inches! I'm switching to a Classic or a Passport (from a 9800) and I couldn't find a way to compare screen sizes accurately (specs on the 9800 are in inches, while the rest are in pixels). THANK YOU!
