I realize that we could only guess and I also realize that it may be just a functionality of OS 10.3 but here is a very basic question.
Do you think that Classic could be used without an active SIM card (pulled out or invalid)? Is there an "Airplane" mode so I can disable cellphone functionality (WiFi only). Even if I get a SIM card, I want to use it only in WiFi network.
I asked the same question in Passport forum.
I wonder why you would think it did require a sim. You can even place a 911 call without a sim.
I have not used any BB10 devices and one of my Bold 9900, that I use only for e-mails, required SIM. iPhone also requires a SIM (even a disabled one). I do not really use a phone function at all (in any of my devices)

I have an iPhone 4s sitting on my desk that works without a sim.

You need a SIM to activate iPhone 5s to connect to iTunes, for instance. Later, you can take it out. I am talking about using iPhone that never had SIM in it.

Yeah my LG G2 is similar. You can't use the native apps without at least starting it with the Verizon sim and ok'ing the user agreements etc. At least it seems it was that way last time I tried that.
No my Bold 9900 works on wifi, worked before i used a sim on it and works without a sim after, its where i download my slacker music, cant use the Z10 for that as it only works on OS7.
Maybe the hub needs it for mail? I have only used webmail ever since having to leave my email behind at GCI years ago.
