So I gave my girlfriend my Passport SE while I main the Classic. I've had the SE since release and I never found the camera all that bad. Today out of nowhere we started comparing the cameras between our phones and have noticed that the Classic had a lot cleaner and more saturated colors than the Passport. It literally put the Passport to shame. Does anyone agree with this or is my Passport defected?

I think the Classic camera is good, but the Passport is a bit better. There are people on here that act like the Classic camera is pure garbage, but it really isn't.

I took this photo today on my blue Classic. No HDR or any filter. Will it win any photography awards? No, but that's not why I bought the Classic haha.

Do you have examples of the Passport photos? We could easily tell if something is wrong with your Passport by its photos.

    This is the Classic:

    And this is the Passport:

    The difference is very noticeable

Oh yeah it's noticeable, but I'd say they're just different. The Passport photo isn't worse than the Classic's, it's just like different coloring

The Classic has a way more realistic color to the actual thing than the Passport. It's weird!

I think with the Classic's 8MP camera doesn't compare the PP's 13MB - however, having owned both, I've found the focus times for both to be exactly the same, even more so on the PP, which was quite annoying!

In fairness, as the above user pointed out, I don't buy BB's for their cameras lol

Of course I'm not complaining about the camera, my question why does the Passport seem inferior to the Classic.. It's unusual!

My PP definitely does mostly... better pics than my Classic, don't know if that helps and I have a Black Beauty and thought the SE should have a better camera...?

It's true what the original poster said. I just compared the SE to the Classic side by side, both cameras on, and the Classic has better colour saturation.

Okay people, well, I just did a fun little experiment. So I held the Classic and the Passport literally side by side so that they were against each other and then started randomly focusing their cameras onto various objects in my apartment. I wanted to see which would focus faster.

    The results?

The CLASSIC, majority of the time, would focus a split second faster than the Passport! Not only that, but there were times when the Passport would focus, and then lose focus and try to auto-focus a number of times. Yes both devices are running the official OS. The Classic also had noticeably deeper colour saturation than the Passport.

For those of you with both a Passport (I have the SE) and the Classic, try what I did above. You may be surprised by the outcome!

Has anyone noticed too that the colours on the Classic are just far more pleasant to look at than on the Passport? The Classic colours are more saturated, whereas pictures taken on the Passport just seem "blue washed", if you know what I mean? Those steering wheel photos above are a perfect example. The Passport's default white balance and contrast are off.

I've taken really good pics with my Classic, and also when I had a Passport. I've never had any complaints. There are some differences though.

With great lighting and focus time, the Passport is hard to beat but on the fly I found the Classic camera to be just as good if not better. It has definitely surprised me a bit with its picture quality.

I have been using the Phone Arena website to compare camera specs to devices like the iPhone and the Classic actually stacks up fairly well. My Passport really doesn't reproduce colours as well as my Classic for some reason. Seems like that's just the way they are!

Classic can and does take some great photos. Not a huge difference between it and my Passport in my usage. Prefer using track pad for taking pictures.
