    Hey everyone,

I need the forum's advice! I've had a 9900 for the last 3 years (a 9700 before that) and I've loved it, the only thing is that the space bar isn't working properly anymore, which has made it very annoying to type messages for the last few weeks.

So I started looking for a new Blackberry and the two options I've narrowed it down to are either the 9720 or the Classic.

Why the 9720? I know my way around the OS, I like the rugged case, but mostly importantly it allows OWA through BIS. However the phone is obviously based on out-of-date technology and there's no 4G/LTE.

Why the Classic? It has an amazing display, much better browsing, and 4G/LTE. The newest BB out there, however no BIS Also it seems like there are lots of problems with the phone lagging in certain apps.

    What do you guys think?

You will have to prioritize your must have needs in a phone and decide from there.

I had a very hard choice also.

Get the classic . + you can get a used 9720 for around $100, and try it. If you like it, keep it, or sell it! :P

Yea I've seen your list... it's very comprehensive!

From the "classic is better at" points at the very end, which one really won you over? For me it feels like its efficiency and quickness vs. browser and display.

Have you experimented at all with BB10 ?

    If not get yourself a Z10 or Q10 on ebay ( $100 / $150 ) so you get a feel for it .
If you like the OS move on to a Classic .

For the time being order another keyboard for the Bold .
( to fix your space bar problem ).

I would get the Classic. It will take a lot of getting used to, but in the end, I think it will be worth it.

Get the Classic!!! I started with a 9900 myself, moved to a Q10 and now just got my Classic today and, boy!..., there's no comparison. Really. In my opinion the Classic is quite a good mesh of the strong points of the 9900 and the strong points of the Q10/BB10 into one larger device.

    Get the Classic!!! :-)

I tried out the Z10 for a while shortly after its release, and the BB10 version the phone came with was so bugged that it was basically unusable. Also constantly dropping calls etc. The worst was that it actually randomly deleted contacts every few days, which made me go straight back to my 9900. But I'm guessing all of those glitches should be gone by now.

For the time being order another keyboard for the Bold .
( to fix your space bar problem ).
I'll try if I can get it sent in, because I wouldn't know how to change the keys myself.

Had a problem with my trackpad this past summer , myself .

    Ordered keypad / trackpad from eBay ( $ 10 ) .

Took less than 15 mins. to replace.
( make sure you have the right screw drivers )

Btw , BB10 has really improved since it was first released .
All OS's go through this .

Search CB on problems with the Bold when it was first released .
That thing had major issues !

Get the Classic. It's newer. It's faster. It's bigger. It's prettier. Better keyboard. Better display. Better apps. Touchscreen. Unless cost is an issue.

Other than familiarity I don't see how the Legacy devices is in any way better than the OS10 devices.

Get a new keyboard assembly for your BB9900.

I just replaced mine due to the space bar producing double full-stops (periods for those of you on the wrong side of the Atlantic).

The replacement keyboard assembly was GBP 10.50 and another GBP 2.50 for a Torx screwdriver set.

Find a video on YouTube and it really is a straightforward: remove a piece of stick-on trim, undo two screws, ease the keyboard assembly out and disconnect the cable.
