Are these exactly the same unit or has the Classic camera been improved in any way? Would be great if any dual owners could post some comparison shots!

Exactly the same 100%
The only difference is that the picture seems more brighter on the classic cause of the LCD screen
If you download them both to the same pc then you will see that they are exactly the same pictures
No difference at all unfortunately

i think that OP is talking about hardware update ....and not software ....
