Toolbelt is THE reason I usually carry a Classic... Along with my 9900. Classic is the Q10 that SHOULD have been, IMO.
100% truth in my opinion. The Q10 was a waste of time, honestly. Of course hindsight is 20/20 but really, BlackBerry should have played to their strengths. Oh well...

Weren't they aiming for Bold 9900 users to get them to move to BB10?
That's how I understood it. Although I think many people upgraded from the q10, the marketing intention was towards those using the bold 9900/9930.

I would argue that build/spec-wise, it's intended to replace the Bold. But in practice it functions as Q10 SE... a slightly revamped version of Q10.

Well seeing as how the Classic is the Q20, I'd say it's a successor to the q10

Classic is not a Q20 there is no Q20 the classic is the classic says it on the back of the device all over the box and paper work it has no mention of Q20 anywhere it's not the successor to the q10 hints the tool belt it's a different device if there was a successor to the q10 the passport fits that bill keyboard and screen

9900, and some of us are living the dream, it's 2011 again and diggin' it. Now if only I knew who will win the 2012 Stanley Cup and I'd be rich.

The Q10's successor, to me, and the Q10 is the successor to the 9900. Recall Blackberry pushed out some extremely minor incremental upgrades to Bolds before as well (9780 vs 9700). I think of it as the Bold line, which while the OS has changed, the intent and purpose of the phone has not. The Vienna/Rome/whatever it will be called, if it comes to fruition, would be the next step in the Bold line of phones.

BlackBerry should've kept that name for their current non-slider PKBs, because of all the products that have basically had their reputation completely ruined and dredged through the mud (playbook, storm, curve, torch, style, Z series, Q series) the Bold stands to be the one that people generally talk about more fondly - the height of BlackBerry's success, and for their time the best phones Blackberry has ever produced (9900, 9700, 9000).

The Bolds (particularly the 9700 and 9000) were really the last time a BlackBerry could go toe to toe with the iPhone on its terms, and it's been downhill from then ever since. "Bold" certainly evokes stronger connotations of Blackberry's dominant yesteryears than "Classic" - reminiscent of antiquated, old, obsolete - does.
