Hey .... I'm in Aus and tried to buy a Classic last week from a BB dealer here in Sydney, and paid the money and when the device didn't turn up I asked 'why'? Well, 1 week later they tell me that they didn't actually have any and now they can't get any from their Hong Kong supplier - who informs them that the Classic is no longer being made!!

What the ..... !*! Is that true?

To make it worse for us here in AU we can't buy directly from BB.com because they have fixed country addresses , eg Canada in the CA shop and UK in the UK shop etc

We require the STV100-3 model here, so it's not easy for Australians to just buy off ebay etc.

Production runs for all BlackBerry phones are over. They have been over quite a while ago.

Whatever is being sold is BlackBerry inventory that's still sitting on shelves either at shopblackberry or private retailers.

Have you tried to see if any Telstra stores have any in stock? I got my Classic from one in December. Phone a couple up and see. You'll find they'll more than likely negotiate on price as well as they will want to get rid of them.

Just to clarify, you said Classic, but mention STV100-3 which is a Priv. Aus Classic is SQC100-1

How much were you buying it for?

Bbstore.com.au says they have them in stock starting at $499

Yep, BB store is where I've tried to buy it!

Oh, I've mixed up the Priv and Classic info then - so the Classic is SQC100-1 is it? Shouldn't it be -3?

RE your Classic purchase from Telstra - is it branded?

    Edit
Was the telstra classic unlocked? I'm with optus ....

SQC100-3 is for Verizon, you don't want that. You want the SQC100-1, which is the model for everywhere outside North America.

The AU version is the SQC100-1. I bought mine outright. Doesn't have any Telstra branding, didn't even have the splash screen on first start up. Does now though, as I'm with Telstra.

If you can snag one from them, should work perfectly fine with Optus.

The model numbers don't follow suit. If memory serves me right, my Z10 is a 100-2, which is the variant for AU

In the earnings call, they said 10.3.4 will be released within a year.
    So at least 1 year

I don't think BlackBerry has come out and stated a definitive date for EOL for BB10. It's at least another couple of years maybe more.
BB10 phones will continue to work for years and years beyond that. But without support don't expect anything to be updated or any issues with the OS addressed.

If you go down this road, you want to make sure that the devices are unlocked and correct for our region. Also make sure that they have been wiped if they have been used, and that no BlackBerry account is associated with them. There are plenty of threads on here about people buying used ones only to discover the last person hasn't removed the device from their account and can't make full use of the device.

Which store did you get your Classic from? I'm in Sydney ....

    Edit
I did an internet chat with Telstra and they wouldn't help me to locate any Classics in the Telstra shops .....

    Edit 2
The Pitt St store guy who answered the phone very generously did a store database search and advised that no Telstra store was showing a Classic in stock (because he was going to get it transferred into Pitt St, if there had been - wow!) Shucks!!

I'm in SA and got mine from the Marion store, mind you this was back in December. At the time they had 2 in stock. Do you know if he just searched local stores or did a search nation wide?

Let me know if the bloke searched national or not, if he didn't, I'd be happy to call a few stores here to see if they have any.

Should you not be able to get one please contact me, if you have PayPal, I would buy one and ship it when you paid me with PayPal. That way if wn issue came up we are both protected with PayPal.

Wow, what a generous person you are!

Today my supplier tells me that they are due this morning, so my fingers are crossed - because he told me yesterday that they were due late yesterday afternoon!

Anyway, hopefully I'll have my Classic very very soon!

Well. I just went to Verizon to replace my broken q10 with a classic and guess what.....it is no longer available, not even on line. So something is going on. Sadly, I must use Verizon for coverage and I tried two used ones and both didn't work (did get full refunds from ebay). I had to get a droid as the priv is just way too expensive. I am missing my q10
